Lady, I consider that a huge compliment. I gather you are a trained professional.
My employer replaced all of who know “stuff” with high school kids in January. Got rid of everyone who knew the science of their job, because they made too much money. They did it through all 13 stores, a complete brain drain.
My customers are mad. How do I know this? I gave them my phone number so if they had problems we could work it out. On my own time.
When I move to Texas, I will start my own business.
*That’s the reason I am a late freeper. I spent hours each night after work helping customers while on my own time!*
I hear ya. We have no internet at work, and no e-mail. I do quotes for landscapers after hours, too. However, I find ways to pad my paycheck to make sure my time is compensated. I don’t ‘work for free’ for an employer, away from home. ;)
I’ll have my own business in the near future, too. There’s a real dearth of knowledge out there, and a big niche to fill concerning home gardeners and those that need advice on ‘which plant where.’
Years ago, I did an exercise in a book (’The Path’ by Laurie Beth Jones, I think) to help you decide what ‘job’ fits you best.
Mine ‘four quadrants’ were: teaching, gardening, sharing and community. I know I can find a way to combine then all and make a buck in the process. ;)
