works globally, doesn't have negative connotations. Early word is it's got a simple, minimalist, colorful interface, and boasts some Wolfram Alpha-like features though a function called "Instant Answer." More as we get it. (Image courtesy of Ars Technica.)
UPDATE: Bing will go public on June 3rd. Ars has a hands-on, and Microsoft has posted an info page. Their strategy, it seems, is to provide direct answers to questions, sort of like Wolfram Alpha does, but with a focus on everyday queries like consumer product info, weather, local interests and even health questions. Ars's conclusion:

No negative connotations globally to the word “bing”. Au contrare “Bing” is the most commonly used word for “sick” in Chinese Mandarin. i.e. Wo bing le= I'm sick or Ai ze bing = AIDs (love illness).

As a web developer who has to build SEO (search engine optimization) into every project, the thought of having to deal with the quirks of yet another major search engine makes me queezy (or as Fishtank put it, Wo
BING le).
And since Microsoft controls so much of the browser coding, I bet they will make doing my job very difficult to say the least.
