RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Pittsburgh Penguins are on their way back to the Stanley Cup Final.
The Penguins completed a four-game sweep of the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday night with a 4-1 victory at the RBC Center. Ruslan Fedotenko, Maxime Talbot, Bill Guerin and Craig Adams scored for the Penguins, who outscored the Hurricanes 20-8 and dominated play for most of the four games.
Even in Game 4, when the Hurricanes jumped in front on an early goal by Eric Staal and shut down Penguins star Evgeni Malkin, they couldn't find a way to win. Talbot's flutterball shot with 1:29 left in the first period broke a 1-1 tie, and the Hurricanes weren't able to solve Fleury again. Fleury stopped the last 30 shots he faced.

Pens look good, but Detroit looks very good. should be another good Cup finals.
Rothelisberger to drop the ice puck?
Pengs look great, should be a classic final, unless the Wings are healthy..........
Detroit is the Leviathan. Very tough team.
Wow.
Now I’ll start paying attention.
“Dooo beee dooo beee dooo......”
Beware of the Penguins.
Classic.
Agreed. They blew out Chicago without 2 of their top players. (and probably the top defenseman in the NHL.) Nevertheless, the way Malkin’s stepped up his game, the Pens will be very competitive, and with last year’s trip behind them, they should have the experience. Should be a great one. :-)
I sure hope that the Stanley Cup final between Detroit and Pittsburgh is more interesting than these semi-finals have been. The ratings for these must be truly awlful.
The conference semi-finals were incredibly good. I think all the teams are now on fumes.
i heard a stat today on who the top 5 scorers in NHL playoff history are and i was very surprised. it’s kinda scary.
It is nice that Bettman and the NHL allow Cindy to be untouchable by any other defenseman. Breathe on him or Malkin and its a penalty
Wow...you’re not a Flyers fan, are you? :-)
I poop on Flyers fans :)
Huge Capitals fan. And actually I am just being a hater, the Penguins have played excellent hockey during these playoffs, in particular the ECF. I didn’t expect them to sweep the Canes, not after the fact that we took them to 7 and have no defense at all
2 previous(7 game)series and not enough bench depth took their toll and made them look slow, at least in the bits and pieces of games 2 and 3 that I watched.
Great run however for the Canes
The Penguins are peaking at the right time....Red Wings hopefully will have all/most of their players back from injury...that should make for a hell of a good rematch.
....that is assuming they(wings)get there...(ain't over till it's over)
The Hawks are a fast/young team...and from what I've seen...they don't quit.
BTW, I don't care what anyone says, the Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in professional sports.
Don’t try to poop on me, Sport. ;-) The Craps played very well, and Ovie was awesome. You just need to get rid of Poti...never was any good, never will be. Turnover machine. Ovie’s supporting cast kinda let him down..it’s obvious that Federov has nothing in the tank anymore. Washington’s just a couple of pieces away, and they’ll be a force for years, which is good for the Eastern Conference. I was shocked at how they manhandled Carolina, too.
Agree, our D needs quite a bit of work. We have some young studs coming up in the system, but a good solid stay at home veteran would be critical
Varlamov will be great for years. And I want another power forward who is willing to crash the net and cause some traffic. The Caps tend to try to score too many “pretty goals” which is nice the regular season, but won’t work in the playoffs
Yup to all of that. Good thing is that you guys got some much-needed playoff experience this year. It’s that same thing that makes me think that Detroit won’t have it quite so easy with the Cindy and company this year.
But, I can always dream. ;-)
Congrats Pens!
