Sorry but the government made no such promise. The Supreme Court has even ruled that SS can be modified at will by Congress. There are SS taxes and there are SS payouts and that is all. Our government takes it from Peter and gives it to Paul There are no contracts, moral obligations, intergenerational agreements, trust funds, or rights of any sorts. Please refer to it by its proper term WELFARE.

Debt can either be paid or defaulted. The debt is at a level now that can not be serviced. Therefore, it will be defaulted. So, neither will get paid.
