Meghan McCain a Real Pain at D.C. Dinner
The New York Observer ^ | May 11, 2009 | Staff Writer

Political blogger Meghan McCain isn’t exactly the toast of D.C. right now.

Sen. John McCain’s daughter — who writes online for The Daily Beast and will soon release a book about life as a Republican — lost it after getting stopped by security when she arrived at the White House Correspondents dinner Saturday. The problem? She had only two tickets, but brought two friends.

“The security guard sent her to talk to someone to sort out the situation, but Meghan got bratty and nastily told him, ‘We’ll just stand here then,’ like an insolent child,” our source said, adding that after dealing with the guard, “She muttered to her friends, ‘Does he even know who the f--- I am?’”

An insider told us, “Those tickets were harder to get than gold dust and Meghan blatantly only had two and thought she didn’t have to follow the same rules as everyone else.”

The vocal McCain “was complaining about everything from the air-conditioning to the wait,” says our leak.

Once inside, the bubbly blond’s mood didn’t improve; she was annoyed at Wanda Sykes’ roast.

“Sen. McCain gave you grief about the new helicopters you didn’t order,” said Sykes, adding, “I think Mr. McCain was a little bitter because he wanted to be in the new helicopters. Mr. McCain, I’m sure if you ask nicely, your wife will buy you a new helicopter.”

While the assembled crowd of politicos, journalists and celebrities roared with laughter, Meghan was not among them.

“I didn’t like the joke about my mom [Cindy],” the young McCain told us after the dinner. “Why talk about her at all? I (didn’t mind the jokes) about my dad, but leave my mom out of it. It really wasn’t in good taste.”

At least one member of the GOP had fun. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin couldn’t make the festivities due to tending to her state’s flooding problem, so she sent hubby, Todd, who had a whale of a time.

Todd happily lapped up the attention from his tablemates and rarely left the side of his date for the evening, Fox News anchor Greta van Susteren.

The two became so close that we caught them hanging out together well past midnight at Capitol File magazine’s annual after-dinner bash.

Seen and heard

Tom Cruise has so much charisma, he seems a natural politician. But when we asked the star if he would eventually make the move from Hollywood to Washington, he — very nicely — shot us down.

“I’m an actor, not a politician,” he said firmly. “Acting is what I’m good at, what I’ve been trained to do. I’d never do politics.” He added with a wink, “I think I have the better job!”

Michelle Obama is a busy woman these days. At the Correspondents Dinner VIP reception, a young boy asked the First Lady how her new puppy was doing. “Bo’s great,” Michelle told him, “but between Bo and the kids, things can get pretty hectic.” We’re pretty sure Arms of Steel Obama is handling things just fine.

Colin Firth speaking to his wife, Livia Giuggioli, in Italian while riding up in the elevator at the Washington Hilton. . . . Ludacris paying a visit to Vietnam veterans at D.C.’s Walter Reed Hospital. . . . ”Friday Night Lights” star Kyle Chandler enjoying a sightseeing tour around Washington.

Wicked whisper

Which married TV actor used the Correspondents Dinner as an excuse to meet up with his occasional mistress?

That dress does not flatter her, IMO. Shouldn’t matter, what’s sad is she is now behaving like that wild-eyed woman from GA who lost her seat in the legislature after losing her mind.

“She muttered to her friends, ‘Does he even know who the f--- I am?’”

And that, in a nutshell, shows what is wrong with the establishment GOP. They have assumed the same notion of entitlement and privilege that the Dems have.

IMO the Tea Party movement has to evolve into a middle-class political movement that tells self-impressed snots like Meghan McCain to stuff it. Government workers and those on poverty assistance have the Dems. Wall Street and Hollywood support the Dems. The corporatist wing of the GOP looks after corporate interests at the expense of the interests of the middle class. Both sides don't give a fig about our interests, and the hard-core liberals would like nothing better than our economic destruction.

Two entities may well go extinct over the next 10 years - the GOP, or the middle class. If the middle class doesn't get its act together and function cohesively as a political entity, inflation from spending and printing money will kill it off, along with job losses. If the middle class does get its act together and the GOP continues to ignore their interests to promote those of the corporatists, the GOP will die. But the GOP will continue to be beholden to the corporatist wing until the middle class rises up.

It's beyond the annoyance factor of the last 20 years. It's now about the very survival of the middle class in America, because we are getting set up for an Argentian-style destruction of such.

I know who the f she is....she’s Sally Struthers!

At least Tom Cruise gets the “shut up and act” concept. That’s one thing.

“Hello. I’m Meghan McKean and these are my breasts!”

She needed a ticket for each of those?

Does she have to buy them separate seats when she flys on an airplane?

“life as a Republican”

WTF?
What does Chubs know about being a REAL Republican?
Palling around on her father’s campaign wouldn’t even count as experience.

The left-wing media is pushing this bloat as the future of the Republican party, nothing more.

Sounds like Meghan is about to discover what Packwood and other Republicans that leaned left found out: The liberals love you till you are not longer needed, then they destroy you

She looks like she’s ready for Octoberfest. All the sausages and beer she can stuff down her gullet.

Looks like she shops for clothes in the “Codename Hardhat” part of the store.

Who the f-— you are??? Of course he knows! You’re the thoroughly unaccomplished, spoiled rotten daughter of a politician whose principle claim to fame is selling out the nation and the American people. Can’t imagine why the guard wasn’t impressed!

I did a search to see, and it’s just idle speculation
I found this site.

Almost halfway down there is a really crude comment about her from a man who looks like a Frankenstein monster, I was SOOOO tempted to register just to say “you don’t need to worry buster, she wouldn’t either!!!!!!”
Ick!

Until I saw this picture I thought I was reading about Cynthia McKinney. Maybe there is something in the water in DC that when you drink enough of it you automatically come down with illusions of self-grandeur.

Your mother should have washed your potty mouth with soap a few times.
