Found one of these last week. They're not dangerous (even when handled) but, when he/she started it's little *Cobra* act, I had to remove it to another property. BTW: they eat toads and frogs.

It looks like a hognose. All bark, no real bite.

I actually got one out of a guys car the other day. It was stilling on his driver side floor mat and when he tried getting into his car when he noticed it. He freaked. I grabbed it, covered his head with a towel and then set it free. I don't like killing snakes unless necessary.

Yep; cute little hognose. They do act very dramatic, kind of funny. They’ll hood up and hiss and then roll over and play dead too. Very harmless.

Is that a hog-nosed snake? They are so cool (harmless) — in addition to puffing up like cobras, they rattle their tails in the leaves to sound like rattlers, even though they have no actual rattles. If that doesn’t work, they roll over on their backs and play dead (although if you turn them over, they roll over on their backs again to prove their REALLY dead.)

I have never seen one in the wild. I envy you.

Hognose play possum when threaten. Scary to look at but very sweet little snakes that can live on toads alone.

I caught one once when I was working on my compost heap. He popped up right between my feet and I grabbed him behind the head to keep from being bitten. Carried him through the house yelling for the wife to get the Peterson Field Guide which she finally did. Found out he didn’t bite and he lived with us for years.

Damn, at first glance he looks scary, but then I thought of the hognose...

Saw a snake in the road last week, it looked hurt but I wasn't sure. Would have preferred to get it to the side of the road and out of traffic but I thought better of it. It was about 3 ft, copper color, looked like a corn snake or something very similar.
