A report by Yahoo! Sports says Brett Favre will stay retired, according to their source close to the team.
The source tells Yahoo! that Favre told Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress that he wanted to remain retired in a phone call that took place sometime in the last day.
Favre is expected to publicly explain his decision soon.
Rumors had swirled after the former Green Bay Packer and Childress were scheduled to meet for dinner Wednesday evening in Mississippi.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS spotted Childress at the Viking's training facility, Winter Park, in Eden Prairie early Thursday.
Favre's agent Bus Cook said Wednesday that he didn't know anything about a meeting with Childress.
Favre asked for and received his release from the New York Jets last week. The 39-year-old left his future open with the disclaimer 'at this time' in a statement affirming his retirement.
If there is a buck to be made by his agent.....He'll be back.
Cheers!
Why publicly explain a decision to remain retired not long after publicly explaining a decision to retire? If you retired, then stay retired and STFU.
In related news, I plan to continue to not be a professional athlete as well. Newsworthy, yes?
No....That’s why I placed this in “Chat”.....
Hall Monitors let their power go to their heads.
I love Bret, but let’s hammer that steak in now!!
I bet he would have been fantastic
I wasn’t bagging on you, just goofing on the article.
Hope I didn’t offend.
;-)
But would I like to see him try one more time? Hell yah! If Kurt Warner can do it...
I love Favre too. I had mixed emotions on this one...on several fronts. First, come on, enough with the retirement on again, off again thing . On the other hand, he is still quite competitive and would step into one of the better situations out there for a QB. Top running back and good receivers. On yet another hand, I would rather the Vikings stink so the Pack can make a run this year. Hopefully their defense shows up like they did in 07.
I just bet his competitive spirit would have carried him successfully for the year
Farve, used to love him, now feel like jilted girlfriend. He made me, a girl, love football with his joy in playing the game. I am trying to still enjoy The Packers with Aaron Rodgers at QB. He seems fine, but Brett just played with such a boyish love for the game. He made it fun for me to watch football. I watched his retirement presser on TV and shed a tear with him. Then he unretired and went to the Jets. Kind of went back on his word that he just couldn’t play anymore. He’s only human. Stay retired Brett. Thanks for the memories, the superhuman saves, the miracle passes, etc. I hope he will spend his time with his family and find happiness in retirement.
Oh they will have the defense, you can count on that. It may take a few games to get the thing rolling but with the coaching staff they got its a sure thing.
The defensive coach they now have is solely responsible for building the Steelers defense as well as most of New Englands.
But, he wasnt that great as a head coach. The 34 defense he will put in is actually a 43 since one of the linebackers blitz most of the plays. The problem is for the opposition to figure out which one is coming.
I think Brett feels his oats in the off season and thinks he can play again, but he can’t recover like a young man from the weekly beatings.
Brett would make an interesting addition as a player / quarterback coach who could step in if need arose, but spent most of his time developing young QBs.
This story isn’t over yet. I have a feeling they’ll be chatting some more in a few weeks......
Should we ping FF this thread?
just sayin’
sure.........if ya want to die............hehe
