"M*A*S*H"'s Major Charles Winchester has stepped out of the tent. Actor David Ogden Stiers tells Gossipboy.com, "I am [gay]. Very proud to be so." Later in the interview, he said, "I wish to spend my life's twilight being just who I am."

but he did play a gay psychiatrist on "Frasier" years back, fwiw. Sadly, also Hyde Pierce and the old guy who played Fraiser's dad. Brilliantly witty series, and aside from the token Republican lead, gay as a SIX dollar bill.

So lemme get this staight...Gayness is innate, and a part of who the person is, like height or eye color, and yet, somehow, one should feel "proud" of this accomplishment?
