An internationally known Catholic priest sometimes called "Father Oprah" has been removed from his posts in Florida after published photos showed him lying down bare-chested in an embrace with a woman on a beach. The photos of the Cuban-American priest appeared on the cover of this week's TV Notas magazine. 1 of 2 The Rev. Alberto Cutie (pronounced koo-tee-AYE) -- who got the nickname "Father Oprah" because of the advice he gives on Spanish-language media -- remains a priest. But he was relieved Tuesday of his duties at St. Francis De Sales Church in Miami Beach, Florida, and at the Radio Paz and Radio Peace networks, said a "deeply saddened" Miami, Florida, Archbishop John C. Favalora.

Examples please. What has the SBC done? How many Baptist poiticians are there and how many of them are pro-choice. You brought it up, now show some numbers to prove your point.

how many priests you got? How many are pro gay or pro abortion? I love it when people throw comments like yours out. It proves you have no argument.
I’ve seen SBC pastors removed for unethical action. I’ve seen SBC condemn political leaders who support such items.
Yes political leaders who profess to be catholic openly support abortion and other un-christian behaviors and nobody says a word.
Now that’s something I had never heard about. I’m honestly speechless. What possible reason... How, for what, and WHO??? No WONDER there was no problem inviting Odinga’s Cousin Obama...
How sad... Notre Dame WAS a good college.
The Church neither owns nor runs Notre Dame, gomer. The Pope and Bishop D'Arcy are allowing Jenkins and the CSC to fashion a noose, place it around their necks and step onto the gallows. Just like the good thief at Golgotha they can either exercise their free will wisely or foolishly. We shall see what happens.
Why doesn't God just strike Obowma dead and everything will be solved?
An honest question for you al_c: (BTW: I’m a “non-practicing”, or “former” Catholic, but I’m not ANTI-Catholic). Do you know what the response of the Bishops and such in relation to Odinga’s invitation, speech, and honorary degree was?
I’m well aware that the media selects and chooses which issues to give coverage to, so I’m hoping the answer is that there was much outcry over that as well...
I will say firmly that from the “outside” so to speak I DO see a very much increased presence in the media of Church Hierarchy weighing in on the issues. I don’t recall this happening before, honestly. I would take that to believe that whomever is in charge of PR in Rome is very much aware that they need to take a more active role in defining the church, and its beliefs to the rest of the world — at least in so far as bedrock issues like abortion (even if they’re political). I would also take the increased “volume” coming from the churches bishops and such to mean that they are very much starting to address these issues PERSONALLY through their own “jobs” within the church, and that this example will “trickle down” to the various churches over time as well... In other words — this is a GOOD thing I see happening. Again, just my opinion from the “outside” looking in, with “insider” knowledge of the Church itself and its teachings.
Eaker: When did this happen re: Odinga? (I’ll go look in a second myself), but I’m REALLY wondering whether this was before or AFTER his supporters terrorized Kenya, and burned churches with women and children seeking sanctuary inside...
There is certainly something wrong, IMHO, and “stinking to high heaven” there at Notre Dame. I wouldn’t know enough to start pointing fingers, and laying blame, but SOMETHING is seriously wrong, that’s for SURE...
I call Obama Odinga because of my respect level for the “man”. I don’t mean the corrupt muslim in kenya, I mean the corrupt muslim in the Whitehouse.
I stopped reading here dumb$hit. I hope you didn't waste any effort on the rest of your post because you certainly didn't understand mine enough to write anything of importance.
Ahhhh.. Now it makes more sense. I was like WHAT? ODINGA - the murderous thug in Kenya? Thanks for the clarification... It’s bad enough Obama is going there! LOL
Okay ... obviously we had a communication failure here. I was under the impression that you expected the Catholic Church to expunge “Catholic” political leaders. I see from post 42 that you are talking about church leaders. No religious group has the authority to get rid of political leaders. It can only try to guide them back to truth and/or lead the voters to find another government representative.
One main difference I see with the SBC and the RCC is numbers. The RCC is worldwide and the number of priests probably outnumber that of Baptist ministers by far. It’s a lot to keep up with and it’s difficult to know where each priest stands on certain issues. Now I will agree that the Church needs to do better about silencing those that have views contradictory to the teachings of the Church. But I don’t think the number of dissenters is quite as large as you are making it out to be.
Regarding politicians... Pope Benedict has been very clear in his messages to them to support life from conception to natural death. So have US bishops. People DO speak up against those CINOs. The MSM will not report it much unless they can spin their story to make the RCC look bad and the politicians look good. For example, a headline could read “Catholic Church Doesn’t Allow Kennedy to Receive Communion” Okay, that make the Church sound like a bully when in actuality, the Church is protecting him from committing a sacrilege. Just because YOU don’t see or hear the voices crying out against these CINO politicos doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
Now back to Notre Dame. You thin there’s silence there? 70 bishops and over 350,000 Catholics have raised their voices against what ND is doing. Students are going to skip commencement and instead attend adoration, Mass and prayer. There is a campaign going to pray 1M rosaries. Mary Ann Glendon (a powerful pro-life voice) was to receive Laetare Medal but has declined it. Bishop D’Arcy has written a response to ND’s president’s failed interpretation of USCCB’s “Catholics in Political Life.” There is no silence on this matter.
Heh. Yeah, that too!
“Well there I wuz, all togged up in my clerical collar fer an innocent stroll on the beach. You’ll never guess whut happened next, Penthouse Forum...”
(I’ll bet there’s a version by Benny Hill!)
Cue wah-wah guitar...
