Never heard of Windows 7 until now. I’ll check back to see what folks are saying about it. Thanks.

DRM, overpriced. Those are 2 I can think of.

There are some flashy new ‘thingies’; but is there a compelling reason to abandon XP? Vista was a lemon, from everything I’ve read, Win7 is basically a re-launch of Vista with the exception of ‘this one doesn’t suck’.

What am I getting for my money? One cannot upgrade your PC from XP to Win7. You will have to backup your applications and all of your data. Win7 will want to wipe your drive.

What will my PC do tomorrow, that it doesn’t do today?

"What's Not To Like About Windows 7?"

Seriously?

If Microsoft is still involved in making it, there will be plenty to not like when it is finally released.

Draconian DRM.

Screw MS and their shills who have gone further than just protecting intellectual content to Democrat-style big brother intrusion.

Did I not read a post here a few weeks ago that some high MS official said that Windows 7 was actually a huge Vista service pack but they just decided to call it something else so it might sell better?

WOW! That’s about all I can say about Windows 7. I have been using this since the Beta, and the Release Candidate (available free for a year) is OUTSTANDING. It runs well even as low as 1GB Ram on a 1GHz machine. It takes about 16GB disk for a full install with Office etc. It upgrades smoothly from Vista. There is no direct upgrade from XP to W7 but a clean install will FLY on most machines. I moved all my XP machines directly to W7 skipping Vista. The few Vista machines I had (they came that way) upgraded nicely and now perform much better. Backup your documents and important files, as always, but I have not had to use any of those backups. This is what Vista should have been; It took a loss of between 6 and 20 Billion for MSFT to fix it, and a huge wait. Gartner has advised its corporate clients that they need not wait till Service Pack 1 to use this. Enjoy!

If Windows 7 were priced reasonably ($40-$50), I could be persuaded to give it a go. As it is, I won’t bother even with the free pre-releases, because at some point, MS is going to come looking for their due, and I already know it will be too much.

They said the same thing about every other release of a new windows OS. Every time the OS have problems that took several, and in the case of ME and Vista, never, patches to fix it. Why they don't just stick with XP, which is to the point it works wonderfully, is beyond me. Vista failed because it was too loaded down with crap no one used, did they lighten up Windows 7? I doubt it.

It is the MO of all software companies to add bells and whistles to new products so they can charge more for them, Windows 7 will be no different, probably will work better than Vista but one never knows and I would bet the farm there will be multiple problems with it at first, and maybe forever.

I see no reason to upgrade from XP, I tried Vista, hated it and came back to XP, I will keep it this time, thank you.

Whats not to like? maybe that I payed for a copy of that crappy Vista a year ago, and MS will expect me to pay full price for their “new and improved” OS.

There are no more thumbnails. I can’t import a microsoft clip art into any other graphics program. I can’t even use it with word works. All I can see are file names, no thumbnail of the clip art. I can’t copy and paste it into any application. I am officially out of business.
