More than two weeks after his wife filed for divorce, Mel Gibson and girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva made their first public appearance at the X-Men Origins: Wolverine screening in L.A. Tuesday.

Holding hands, the 53-year-old actor -- in a black suit with a dark gray shirt -- and Grigorieva, 38, did not stop to pose for photographers, instead rushing inside Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

** Standard Age Determination Equation For a Girlfriend is used to determine the age of the girl a divorced guy should be dating and is caclulated by taking half the mans age and adding seven years. In Mel’s case, he’s 53, so should be dating a 33-34 year old woman.

Criminy ... 25-26 years for a gf .... hmmm >:)

It’s possible, but life is too complex to immediately conclude that a cheated-upon spouse is in the right, and a cheating spouse is in the wrong. I don’t advocate adultery, but the fact that a spouse has been cheated on doesn’t make them automatically the person with the moral high ground.

Just reminding people that the fact that he has an attractive new companion doesn’t automatically give him the moral low ground or the moral high ground.

You don’t know what alienated him from his wife. Neither do I.

Why is it so difficult to believe that he could have rightfully grown alienated from a dreadful spouse?

it is difficult to believe because there is absolutely nothing, in the public domain, to indicate that;on the contrary, there is PLENTY to indicate that he was the reprehensible one. so, you can make counter-intuitive assumptions. But, logically speaking, he is more likely the wrong-doer.

I agree with you there - it’s probably more likely than not that he bears more responsibility for his marriage ending.

Sorry, in my book [and the one Mel claims/claimed] adultery is the prima facie moral low ground.

i am not a man-hater always looking to cast blame on the male, by any means. i think men are very OFTEN shafted, i just don’t think that is the case here, based on everything i have read. They have 6 children together, have been married a long time and i find it exceedingly sad that he is giving up his family in order to pursue bimbos. It cheapens someone whose work i liked, and whom i respected, but no longer.

I am not one of those guys who thinks men get shafted in these situations, necessarily. I have just seen too many situations where a cheated-upon spouse was no great prize, and while the dynamics make them theoretically more sympathetic, in fact it doesn’t work out that way in many instances.

Adultery is wrong, I agree. All I am saying is we can’t look at a situation and let conventional roles determine the facts. I know some spouses of both sexes who got walked out on and based on info I knew about their marriage, I didn’t find them sympathetic at all.

I don’t think that was being done in the case of mel gibson, there have been far too many stories about his womanizing. I’m sorry, but if you have kids, that’s just indefensible.

Ted, what fun is it to cyber pick on Robyn Gibson, a mother of seven??? Mel is so much more ripe for the snarky commentary...the demonic Harlan Sanders goatee, moustache and ‘crazy eyes’ coupled with a surgically enhanced peice of arm candy make for great blogging. Throw in the DWI performance and have struck blog gold!

Geesh, there is no place on celeb threads for ‘figuring these people out’ its better, as Jane Austen would say ‘to make folly of our neighbor.’

Most men in mid-life crisis go out and buy a Corvette ... wonder why he doesn't know this?

He looks dumb in that picture! Kinda like he's escorting his daughter to the daughter/daddy dance.....LOL!

That being said, what the heck, he's earned the money that has kept his wife and kids in luxury. If he wants to blow half of it over a new toy, thats his business.

I Don’t think he just woke up one morning and decided to fly the coup. This had to be a long time coming, and I bet he was and still is in pain. After 28 years, he will never forget, nor will the Ex let him.

Why are FReepers judging Mel? I don't blame Mel for whatever happened. He's still a great guy in my book.

Besides women comes and goes.

Only a year different from what i was told. Need to look at the low end, though, to stay out of jail. When you hit my age, adding either 6 or 7 is an insignificant difference.

I was taught it’s the desirable age, not minimum. See Anna Nicole Smith and her wealthy husband for an example.

I am saddened to hear of this. I really think Mel’s gone off the deep end.

Sad.
