If it is true that this strain is mostly killing 20-40 year-olds in Mexico, that may be why we have not seen fatalities here as almost all infections reported have been in the under 20 crowd.

Are you really saying that the ONLY persons infected in the US are those 21 that have been confirmed? Go do a little research and you will learn that just about everyone that those 21 have come in contact with have shown symptoms similar to theirs and yet none of those contacts have died either.
It’s your choice as to whether you want to believe the media BS on this but on thing is certain, this is NOT the Spanish Flu.

First, I never said it was the Spanish Flu.
Second, there is a possibility that there are several strains with the most advanced in Mexico and the less advanced here.
It is way to early to define this and make any definite proclamations. In fact, most epidemics were not defined until they were all over.
Maybe if they’d clean up their filth around Mexico they wouldnt be in such a disaster. Garbage EVERWHERE!
All such events-even the black plague, ties to one thing. Filth.
The Spanish flu went wild because people did not stay clean and they did not have the means to treat the illness then like we do now. Back then, they maybe washed once or twice a week. My aunt said that if they simply would have tried to stay a tad bit cleaner, as many as people that died, wouldnt have. She lived through that event and took care of a good many who had it. Only a couple died as a result because she said she kept the bedclothes changed, the patients washed, Washed the dishes after she fed them. Made sure they got LOTs to drink. Washed towels after each use. On and on. She never got it. And only one in the family did get it.
They did not have paper towels those days like they do now. So use paper products and discard after each use. Wash your bath towels after each use. Wash your hands. Take showers after you get home. STAY CLEAN and KEEP your home CLEAN.
Now all tha paranoia thats going around is quite amuzing. Lets say you go to the restroom when your out and yes you wash your hands after. Yet you have to open the door to get out dont you? So now since its on the doornob, you got it on your hands. You handle something in the store that had been handled by someone that has the virus.
Thats why it is important to stay clean and wash. Dont use cloth towels over and over. Use paper to whipe your hands etc. Paper is generally naturally sterile. Nobody touches that towel package from manufacturing till its in the store.
And if you get it, drink fluids, eat, and try to rest. It’l be soft boiled eggs and toast and chicken soap for me if I get it. Green tea and juice to drink. Crackers if I cant hold it down and 7UP.

Cleanliness has largely been forgotten as a way of reducing the spread of disease.
But the idea that sanitation will prevent the spread of a disease like Spanish flu is just incorrect. So is the notion that the disease originates from human filth. This has the tendency to allow people to feel the victims are to blame, since if they’d been clean they wouldn’t have gotten sick.
In actual fact, flu viruses almost always originate from locations where people raise pigs in close proximity to poultry, especially ducks. This allows mixing of the human, avian and swine varieties of the flu and the cooking up of a new mixture, which is what we have here. Absolute cleanliness is not particularly practical in animal husbandry.
One reason the flu spread so fast in 1918 is that the world was at war. Many millions of men were crammed together in army bases, navy ships, etc. More important than sanitation is actually the distance between people. Cram a lot of people into a small space, as is necessary for military action, and you’ve got a pressure cooker for spread of the virus.
Cars are a safer form of transport than public transport or airplanes, for example. Elevators are bad.

It looks to me that you are correct. As it is transmitted, it's mutating into a less deadly form.
