Breaking: First Dog Is "Crazy," Says First Lady

Secrets of FiDOTUS revealed! Bo is "crazy," a senior White House official divulged yesterday. The newly arrived Portuguese water pup "likes to chew on people's feet" and cause commotions. "Oh, he is a crazy dog," the official confirmed. Uh, wait -- turns out this was all on the record. So we can tell you the canine briefing was delivered by none other than Michelle Obama to a young audience assembled at the White House for the annual Take Your Kids to Work Day, reports our colleague Richard Leiby. The first lady disclosed that Bo made such a racket the night before that she and the president thought someone was lurking outside their bedroom. "It was just Bo. He was playing with his ball."

What did the First Witch expect?

B.O. the dog was named after one of Satan's most loyal minions.

OK, until you posted that, I did not make the connection. What kind of narcissistic person names their dog for their initials. Didn’t they say it was for a grandfather or something?

The dog was given back to the kennel once...I imagined when I heard that the dog might be a hyper little puppy. Didn’t I read that Kennedy sent it to his dog trainer?

That being said, it’s a puppy, and I don’t know many breeds where the puppies aren’t hyper. We have Weims, it takes them about 3 years to grow out of their “bouncy” stage, then they turn into couch potatoes, except when it’s time to go for a run, or to the park...or if they see a squirrel outside, LOL.

LOL I had to go look. It wouldn’t be so bad but for that big fat belt worn way up high. What is up with the belt?? I actually feel bad for her because apparently nobody is telling her how unflattering that is.

The puppy is roaming the halls of the private residence at night? Why isn’t little Bo crate trained? I have always had a dog; and never let a pup just roam, unattended at night (too much they came get into). So...why no crate?

Ok, PaMom started it. CrateGate!

Damn, Michelle is a lousy dresser. No first lady should ever dress like that in public.

She sounds like an idiot. Someone should tell her puppies like to play and puppies should sleep in a crate at night.

Oh, great. Just letting a puppy run loose around the White House, no crate? Chewing on the historic furniture and leaving presents on the oriental rugs? Great!

Fer cryin' out loud, our house would be a pile of rubble if we had let our younger Lab run loose at night.

Dog's not crazy, just a puppy. PWDs are high-energy dogs and need lots of exercise. Their heritage is similar to that of Labradors -- used in cold water to assist fisherman -- and all that energy has to go SOMEWHERE if they're not hauling nets around.

This is not going to go well, I don't think, unless they get a full time trainer in to look after the dog.

What you said.

My dogs LOVE their crates (or "dens"). When they get a treat or a nylabone, they run to their crates to gnaw on it. Of course, there is the problem that the younger dog prefers my Big Dog's crate to her own -- "No, Ruby, that's Shelley's crate!" and she'll slink back to hers. They're identical, except that Shelley has a sheepskin over her crate bed . . . but Ruby chews on the sheepskin so she can't have one. She does have a waterbed under her crate bed because otherwise she rubs the fur off her 'keel'.

I can't imagine having an active young dog without a crate.
