Actually, Ford was president in 1976. Carter didn’t assume office till 1977

Yup. Cannot recall what was ailing California in 1976. Maybe it was Jerry Brown’s first term as governor.

LBJ’s guns and butter. The cost of the Vietnam War and great Society.

BTW - always remind every lib you see that Vietnam was JFK and LBJ’s war. Nixon and Gen. Creighton Abrams probably could have won it except for commie infiltrators like Kerry, Teddy, Cronkite, Fonda, et al.

You are correct. My mistake. Things sure seemed a lot worse when Jimmy was President.

They did get worse. Obama is following some of Carter’s policies, along with GWB’s.
The gas lines weren’t too bad up here in northern Minnesota, though. I know it got tough in the Twin Cities.

Who still has their “WIN” buttons from the Ford era??? LOL!!!

Jerry Ford. Carter wasn’t sworn in until noon on January 20, 1977.

There is one bright spot (sarc), we had 4,400 new government employees and 2,200 educational and health employees added in the last 2 months.

The country was still suffering from the first oil price shock in 1973, the malaise from Watergate and the end of the Vietnam War. We could argue that Korea was a draw, but we couldn't say that as the last helicopters pulled people from the roof of the embassy in Saigon.

Gerald Ford actually took steps to deal with the stagflation, I still have the WIN button he sent me! He left Jimmy Carter with a pretty good economy, and it was Carter's bungling of foreign affairs that dragged us back into the malaise in 1980. I'm confident that Zero will repeat the pattern.

Yea, and where oh where is movie action star Ahhhhnold. What a wuss the guy turned out to be. A few months back he said he took direction now from his wife, Maria nee Shriver. Looks like she’s not providing any and he doesn’t know what to do with himself.

Very sad. And I so enjoyed Predator all these years. Tried watching it the other night and had to turn it off. Ahhhnold’s character just did not come off very well anymore.

Now I’m waiting for the other foot to drop with Bruce Willis. These Hollywood people need to learn to keep their mouths shut off the set. Without a script and a director they’re, for the most part, just Childish adults play acting.

If I'm not mistaken, things did get worse when Carter became president.

The are two kinds of people in the US - those who are old enough to remember how miserable things were under Carter and those who are about to find out.

the only thing that governor did right was to have a smoking hot girlfriend.

Now he is bald, looks like an aging chicken and likes to manipulate words as the Attorney General of California.

He failed at that too. Overwhelmingly
