TEA PARTY U.S.A. - It's about YOU the HARD WORKING TAX PAYERS!
My thoughts ^ | April 15, 2009 | Cindy

Posted on 04/15/2009 1:14:15 PM PDT by Cindy

Today, the voice of Americans was heard.

The Tea Party U.S.A. is not a one day national event -- it's the continuation of a chain of events and activism that will strengthen our country.

We are doing this primarily without main-stream media coverage.

That's o.k.

Your voice is being heard without the main-stream media.

Keep it up my fellow, patriotic Americans.

Tea Party Attendance

Posted on April 15, 2009 10:59:05 PM PDT by ProtectOurFreedom

Kristinn started an excellent thread titled “Tea Party Total Head Count Thread (Post Your Attendance Numbers Here). I’ve popped the attendance numbers reported by everybody through post #300 into a Google Docs spreadsheet which you can view here.

Please post notices of corrections to this thread and I will keep the sheet updated. Right now we are at about 370,000 attendance.

I need to work my way through to the end of Kristinn’s thread to finish off the sheet.

Tea Party Pics from Allen, TX (vanity)
April 16, 2009 | pillut48
Posted on April 16, 2009 1:20:25 AM PDT by pillut48

I hadn’t known my town was going to be having a Tea Party—I’d wanted to go to one but couldn’t make the long drive way down to Dallas...imagine my delight when, after my daughter Maya’s dance class we went to the bank and happened upon the Tea Party by the city hall/municipal complex! After grabbing some food at McD’s for my daughter, we headed over to join the group. She was delighted as well (she’s a bright girl, if I may say so myself!) and tore the back off a coloring book and made her own little sign to carry to the group. When we got there, I’d guess there was less than 40 people or so, but within an hour I believe there was at least 200 or so people there! We could only stay for about 45 minutes, but those minutes were so invigorating to walk around, meet others who were ‘fighting the good fight’ with their signs, and to hear an almost unending stream of car horns honking as they drove by—I almost cried several times because I was so glad to be there among REAL Americans, and because my daughter and twins and I got to participate in this grassroots protest against the obamanations going on in Washington!! Since I wasn’t prepared for the Tea Party (my daughter was a bit disappointed she didn’t get to make a ‘real’ sign) all I had was my cell phone camera. I took a boatload of pictures, and a few videos...unfortunately my dumb phone wasn’t set properly (I only recently got it) and the pictures were saved to the handset and not the memory card, and it won’t let me transfer ALL of the pictures at once, only one at a time. Still I wanted to share the few I did manage to get transferred tonite, and I’ll try to finish the rest tomorrow.

This Tea Party really left us invigorated and motivated and stimulated to keep fighting against the evil that’s in control of our country!! Don’t Tread on Us, liberals! WE ARE FIGHTING BACK!!! THIS IS WHAT AMERICA IS REALLY ALL ABOUT—FREEDOM!!!

“This ‘tea party’ boiling mad (Columbus, Ohio)”
Columbus Dispatch ^ | April 16, 2009 | James Nash and Alan Johnson
Posted on April 16, 2009 1:55:51 AM PDT by Zakeet

SNIPPET: “On the same spot where then-candidate Barack Obama delivered closing arguments for the presidency last November, thousands of Ohioans gathered yesterday evening to issue a rebuttal.

The “tea party” on the lawn of the Statehouse was one of hundreds of events around the country on the federal tax deadline to protest Obama’s tax policies and the federal stimulus package.

Organizers said about 7,000 people attended.

The message was simple: The federal government, already bloated by decades of growth, now is gorging on the next generation’s earnings with a stimulus plan that relies on billions of dollars in borrowed money.”

Tea Parties about Far More than Taxes
The American Thinker ^ | April 16, 2009 | Kyle-Anne Shiver
Posted on April 16, 2009 2:30:57 AM PDT by Scanian

Many writers have dubbed the Tax Day Tea Parties as inconsequential, a fad that will die quickly, and of foolish origins that have nothing to do with the American patriots of revolutionary days. Patriots dumped a ship full of tea into Boston Harbor, these folks contend, to protest one thing: taxation without representation. We modern patriots have representation and are therefore insane to protest, or so this line of argument goes.

Folks who believe that the American Revolution was over nothing but taxation — a penny more for a cup of tea or sugar or any of the other fees and taxes that the British were constantly adding to colonists’ backs — are as dimwitted as was King George in his day. The tea tax may have been the single match that started the fire, but the British had been soaking their American colonies in tyrannical kerosene for a long, long time.

Now, the Tea Parties occurring in the present day may indeed represent a brushfire that quickly extinguishes itself. Only time will tell.

But the message in grassroots Tea Parties today is of exactly the same character as its historical inspiration. The Tea Parties represent a growing anger against encroaching tyranny by a federal government that pays far more heed to billionaire financiers, union bosses, special interest lobbyists, and those on the bottom who pay no income taxes, than it does to all the folks in the middle, who work hard to pay their taxes and all their other bills.

The Tea Parties represent real citizens’ anger over watching powerlessly for the past two months as a president, who ran as a moderate to get elected, has taken the fastest, boldest leap to the far left of any president to date.

“Harborites join tax day “Tea Party” (Aberdeen WA)”
The Daily World ^ | April 16, 2009 | JACOB JONES
Posted on April 16, 2009 2:36:52 PM PDT by llevrok

SNIPPET: “With his voice crackling through the low buzz of a small amplifier, Aberdeen resident Leo Cormier called on the 150 or so people in Zelasko Park Wednesday afternoon to challenge politicians.

“We’re all here because we’re fed up and we’re not going to take it any more,” he said.

Cormier and others hoisted signs and American flags to protest high taxes and a lack of government accountability at the local level.

“Taxed Enough Already,” many signs declared.

Many of the demonstrators discussed out-of-control taxes and political inefficiency. The young and old donned red, white and blue to rally around the country’s founding principles.

Similar demonstrations were held Wednesday, tax day, around the country, including the state’s largest at the Capitol in Olympia, which reportedly drew more than 5,000 people.”

Taxes, Taxes, Taxes and More Taxes
Westchester County New York Real Estate Blog ^ | April 3, 2009 | Miriam Bernstein
Posted on April 16, 2009 5:00:35 PM PDT by Melissa 24

All over Westchester County signs are appearing on front lawns about a tax rally scheduled at the County Office Building in White Plains. The date is April 25, 2009 and the time is 12 noon. This rally is called the “Westchester Tea Party” and individuals attending are being asked to bring two tea bags. This is a rally to support the idea that Westchester County government should be abolished.

Homeowners in Westchester County pay high taxes and the problem as I see it is the duplication of services. As an example if you live in the Town of Greenburgh you pay the Town to support the Greenburgh police department but you also pay the county to support the County Police Department. In the Town of Greenburgh which has six Villages, several Hamlets and unincorporated areas there are seven school districts, eight police departments, seven building departments, seven sanitation departments, there are Village, County and State parks. All of this is layered and duplicated. Consolidating some of these services or eliminating one or two layers would save taxpayers money. Something has got to give.

Lets see how bad this is.. well.. start with 306 tea party attendances listed while ignoring the other 500 tea parties held on 4/15 - if the average attendence of the others is lets say 200 then the estimate is in error by 100,000... woops. But worse, the estimates used are really really off.. lets take for example Houston
Mr. Silvers report - 2000 attendees from an “unbiased” source

Free Republic Post - HOUSTON TEA PARTY DRAWS 8,532 SIGNATURES, ESTIMATED CROWD 10,000 TOTAL

Mr. Silvers reports crown in Cincinnati as 3000.

I was there, the crowd spilled all of the way across Vine street see the pictures.. on March 15 the 4500 crowd was confined to Fountain Square without most of the Vine Street sidewalk full except at the corner.. a better estimate would be 5000 to 6000 which makes Silvers wrong by half at least.

My ire is not really about a Blogger reporting a wildly low estimate, heck the Christian Science Monitor only estimated 100,000 altogether. It is at Hot Air posting this crap estimate as if it had any meaning.

This estimate is off at least by half but more likely more... a better estimate for total turn out would be 500,000 to 700,000 total just by doubling this idiots number and adding the missing 100,000 but this number is probably low if you look at the small town pictures.

Tea Party System
IBD Editorials ^ | April 16, 2009
Posted on April 16, 2009 7:02:04 PM PDT by Kaslin

Politics: The hundreds of tea parties thrown Wednesday were part of one of the most extraordinary grass-roots uprisings in our history. And they spell a golden opportunity for freedom-loving politicians.

Less than three months after a landmark election, throngs of demonstrators everywhere gathered to object to the revolution that our new president is steamrolling into law. It was a landmark protest in the history of the republic.
But how can the voices of tens if not hundreds of thousands of angry taxpayers be turned into concrete political action?

Investor’s Business Daily attended one of these historic events, the Fishkill Tea Party in upstate New York, just east of the Hudson River. The original Fishkill Tea Party took place Aug. 26, 1776, when 100 women forced a storekeeper named Abram Brinckerhoff to sell them tea at the lawful price of 6 shillings per pound. This year’s Fishkill Tea Party nearly filled Dutchess Stadium, the county’s minor-league ballpark.

In a region of liberal New York state where Democrats have been consolidating their power during the last two elections, thousands traveled long distances to support pretty much the classic Reagan political agenda — and not just on taxes and spending.

Banners and placards sported slogans that included “Don’t Spread My Wealth. Spread My Work Ethic,” “Who’ll Bail Me Out?” “Atlas Will Shrug,” “Tea Today. No Kool-Aid,” and “Acorn Didn’t Have To Bus Us Here,” referring to the left-wing activist group that specializes in voter registration drives benefiting liberal Democrats.
