UFO or not UFO? Area 51 declassifying pours cold water on theory..
The Tech Herald ^ | April 12th, 2009 | Rich Bowden

A former engineer at the top secret airfield "Area 51" in Nevada has spoken out about UFO sightings in the region in the 1960s, saying the witnessed flashes of light were part of top secret US aircraft experiments.

In an interview with ABC News, Thornton "T.D." Barnes, 72, a former special-projects engineer at Area 51 said: "No one really knew we existed. Even our wives didn't know where we were going when we left Monday morning and came back Friday evening."

Barnes was an electronics engineer for NASA who also specialised in advance radar and Soviet MiG fighter aircraft and was asked to join a team of CIA experts who would work on secret military projects at the infamous base.

UFO folklore has it that Area 51, about 80 miles north northwest of Las Vegas, is where captured aliens and their spacecraft have been stored by the US military. The conspiracy theory comes in part because of the preponderance of strange, unaccounted for lights that have been seen in the region of the top secret military base.

However Barnes poured cold water on the theory saying the "alien spaceships" were in fact light flashes from top secret spy planes being flown at 2,000 miles per hour at altitudes of 90,000 feet.

The experimental planes produced light flashes that some interpreted as alien spaceships and this was considered helpful by the team in covering their activities.

"We considered it to be a bonus," said Barnes. "They made it easier to conceal what we were doing."

However some ufologists have said the area has only been partly declassified and UFO work at the base may well have carried out though in a region unknown to engineers such as Barnes.

"Those guys who came forward may very well be telling the truth, with the caveat that they wouldn't know if there was something going on," said Stanton T. Friedman, a nuclear physicist, lecturer and top UFO researcher.

Friedman added that evidence coming out of places such as Area 51 proved how much was going on in the country without peoples' knowledge.

"National security has a real place in all of this stuff. There is no way to tell your friends without telling your enemies," he said. "A lot of Americans woke up to the fact that there's a lot going on that they don't get told about."

I'm the one that's crazy???

By the way, I work in the sciences. You dismissed me before saying I was not worthy to question your theories.

I notice that you are pretending to be a Psychologist but a real Psychologist would not be acting in this manner.

You need to seek help not only for your rage but for your paranoia.

Well which is it? Are the UFO people who claim to have seen or believe in gray bug eyed aliens a bunch of charlatans and kooks?

If in fact the poster TaraP thinks that gray bug eyed aliens do NOT come from UFO’s but things that look like PEOPLE come from UFO’s.

That must mean that those who see bug eyed aliens are lying.

Doesn't it?

Logic anyone?

Yes, and Unicorns are always found around Manticores.

??????

Not at all the point.

I think all UFO people are charlatans and kooks.

TaraP apparently thinks that people who see PEOPLE come out of UFO’s are on to something, but those that see bug eyed aliens are apparently charlatans and kooks (or otherwise somehow misguided and wrong).

I am just looking for some clarification about the posters opinion on those who claim to have seen bug eyed aliens come out of UFO’s. Does she think they are as wrong, deluded or lying as I assume ALL UFO people to be?

So why do God’s angels need a technological space ship?

Do they require technology in Heaven?

I'm curious . . . do you buy your delusions by the case at Sam's or on a whim at 7/11?

No need to buy them, they're free on any thread you're posting on!

No actually we do know. PEOPLE invented those things, not aliens. PEOPLE, real actual HUMAN BEINGS that took copious notes that we can read.

Wow 5 posts in a row to me that are nothing but shouted insults. All from the guy that whined about how insulting and mean skeptics are.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

More flawed assumptions! LOL.

I guess you haven’t met many psychologists! LOL.

worthy . . . ? . . . depends on what we’re talking about. I don’t find your attitude or assumptions about the topic very worthy even of a response.

As a person made in God’s image, you’re of infinite worth.

It actually takes quite a lot to get me angry unless it’s abuse of children or animals.

I can’t remember the last time I felt rage. At least 7-10 years ago.

I don’t recall what TaraP thinks about bug-eyed greys et al.

However, seems to me your assumptions are yet again greatly flawed. No surprise there.

Another option is . . . that folks who see bug-eyed greys in or out of UFO’s are deluded somehow by various means and/or forces.

Personally, I don’t doubt that bug-eyed greys have been seen in UFO’s, out of UFO’s, with humans in UFO’s, with humans out of UFO’s. And, I think, with the preying mantis type critters at least in UFO’s. I assume you did see CLOSE ENCOUNTERS.

BTW,

I’ve not observed naysayers to be on very close terms with

. . . logic.

I love it when

naysayers go on record making such utterly foolish and ignorant statements.

Sure sets them up for some interesting cognitive dissonance.

Though at the time of the crashing down of the truth around their clueless consciousness, it will probably be more pathetic than humorous.

To say that the Rendlesham Forest case has been proved beyond a reasonable doubt is quite a stretch, or more correctly, completely wrong. Nothing has been ‘proven’, and its most likely a hoax.

That’s long been an interesting question.

I’ve never believed that they NEED such.

However, we do have the Biblical Ezekiel’s chariot—which sounds like a fairly classical, standard UFO model.

And, then, there’s the interesting case of Jesse DuPlantis’ 5 earth hours in Heaven . . . and his coming and going in some sort of encapsulating transportation module. He’s certainly the real deal. I loved it later, too, when his car on the way to . . . meeting his wife in a distant city . . . was encapsulated in fog . . . and what was it . . . a 90 min (minimum) trip took 20 minutes or some such.

I love it when God pulls those things. Have known a few people that angels lifted their cars to avoid a jack-knifed semi on a hill in a deep cut roadway or just before a bridge.

I also love it when naysayers’ constructions on reality crash down around their toe jam.

Actually, I haven’t been impressed that more than a very few naysayers

were even in the same galactic cluster as . . .

something as seemingly rare to them . . . . as

. . . factual, perceptive knowledge.
