Little Boy Recovering After Mauling By Pit Bull

originally posted on: 4/11/2009 3:10:11 PM

A 4-year-old Mansfield boy is recovering from facial injuries he received when a male pit bull mauled him Friday night.

The attack happened at an apartment at 767 Park Avenue West in Mansfield.

Gabe Cooper suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to Akron Children's Hospital.

His mother, Allison Cooper, 28, also was injured from bite wounds as she was trying to fend off the dog. She was treated for hand and arm injuries at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.

The mother and son were at the apartment to let the male pit bull and a female pit bull outside for the owner, who was out of town.

Mansfield Police had to stun the male pit bull with a taser up to 15 times and later took it to the dog pound.

Pit bulls are illegal in Mansfield under a vicious and dangerous dog ordinance passed in 1998.

Good thing the cops didn’t shoot the dog or we would have the Bill Ayers crowd here yelling about the “jackboots”.

Yeah, but which is better for the environment? Having to recharge a 15 shock depleted taser or one shot from a Glock?

After a short cost-benefit analysis.... One $0.15 .45 round would have been most effective bang for the buck (as it were). But the replacement cost for those cheap .45 rounds keeps going up. Glad I got a bunch back in the day.

So anyone who thinks cops are sometimes abusive are comparable to Bill Ayers?

EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - A pit bulldog attacked a guide dog owned by a blind woman and police have arrested the pit bull’s 17-year-old owner, but only after the woman worked for a month to get El Dorado authorities to take proper action.

I think that pup will be ok,,,

Maybe the locals can help her out with the vet bills,,,

This is a small town in southern Ark.,,,

I look for them to ban the breed like DeQueen did a few

months back,,,

Some folks in that area will put a rifle ball through

the owner as well as the dawg when loved ones are attacked...

"Mansfield Police had to stun the male pit bull with a taser up to 15 times and later took it to the dog pound.

Their policies were too wimpy for them to shoot it, or maybe a lack of training.

"Pit bulls are illegal in Mansfield under a vicious and dangerous dog ordinance passed in 1998."

Good. The pit bull owner will be punished for the misdeed with the mis-breed, and there will be fewer maulings there.
