I was sitting in the movie theatre eating popcorn and Milk Duds while watching the previews of upcoming attractions when my wife asked how I could combine two seemingly opposite food items. I told her that Milk Duds, when eaten simultaneously with popcorn, are very tasty. Dont knock it until youve tried it.
While waiting for the feature presentation I began to think of other strange food combinations that I have eaten through the years. Since childhood, I have dipped my potato chips into applesauce. Like Milk Duds and popcorn, the combination of the salt in the chips and sugar in the applesauce play well off of each other. I have always put ketchup on butter beans and now my children have now acquired a taste for their fathers strange legume-meets-tomato-condiment pairing.
I began to wonder what other people might eat in the way of strange food pairings, so I logged on to my Facebook page and posed the question: What are the strange food combinations that you like to eat?

There used to be a place where I got corned beef sandwiches on raisin bread. Don’t laugh, it was great.
Oh I will. Either by mail or internet - I know how to do mail (of course, lol), still working on the computer thing. But I got a digital camera for Christmas and a few weeks ago learned how to get them on my comuputer. One of the kids sang Mary Did You Know as a solo and a couple other songs for our parish Passion Play - waiting for my husband to upload or whatever so I can share it.
Anyway, the dress will be worn for the wedding...she loved the dress (well they all did but it fits her, lol) and fortunately it matches the color scheme so the bride ok’d it. All the bridesmaids are wearing different dresses. That dress is the prettiest, imo.
Hmmmm that sounds good! Love bologna, but must admit don't know Lebanon bologna. If I can find it, I'll try it!
I thought everyone salted watermelon! I know I grew up doing that. As far as the tomatoes, whenever we have canned tomatoes, we always warm them up with sugar!
If you like that you should try peanut butter, and honey sandwiches. Really good!
We called it a black cow. Rootbeer float works too!
Ground turkey/chicken, feta and spinach. Mush them together & cook. Even I can do it.
Sounds great - might want to bake it with a couple of pieces of bacon on top - crispy bacon, feta (greek), spinach and chicken - you've got a winner! Yum.
Potato chips dipped in Jalepino cheese dip.
French fries dipped in ranch dressing.
Bacon and Tuna fish sandwiches.

Told ya! ;)
Man, I haven’t had one of those in a while... I know what I’m making this week.

Also known as a "brown cow" "black cow"[1], the root beer float is traditionally made with vanilla ice cream and root beer, but can also be made with other flavors.
.
Found this on Wikipedia - after I posted my reply to you I started to wonder if "black cow" wasn't just some local name for the drink...
My 17 year old granddaughter is a beauty and loves fashion. She is thinking of going to school for fashion merchandising. She really has the feeling for it. She’s even designed a couple of things. She’s always loved art and is quite good at it. Maybe she could be a designer. Hard business though. I’m not sure I want her hanging around with some of the kinds of crazy people in the industry, LOL.
We were lucky to get a corsage! And we didn’t go out to dinner either. Mom would open up the house for us to come and fix breakfast after the prom and the local college would let us have all night parties in one of the frats, chaperoned of course. No limos, no dinners, no $300 dresses. But we had fun!
She’s probably talented. Good for her. Don’t worry about the industry. She’s probably a good kid, she won’t fall for the bs and has you and her parents looking out for her. My senior is going off to college in August. Hopefully, we taught her right and she’ll make good decisions. But really, it’s what we hope for, how we raise them. Even the best parents don’t always have kids that do what they want/think is best. I know I did some things my parents wouldn’t have approved of, etc. I turned out just fine :)
We do all we can, and let them go to make their own decisions. Granted, my oldest is a senior and making “right” decisions now. But really, if we raise them right, they’ll make their own decisions whether or not we agree with those decisions.
Now we went out to dinner for our Junior Prom.
We also went to the shore (Jersey Shore) for after-prom. Now, they rent for the weekend, more money, lol. My teens work so this is paid for by them. This past week, my senior went on her senior trip to Disney World. 4 days/3 nights. I paid the down payment in freshman year, she paid for the rest. And, I gave her $150. to spend while there, and anything more she spent came out of her own money.
DW for a senior trip? WTH? We didn’t have this back when I was a teen but it’s the thing here. She had a great time, many memories she’ll cherish her entire life.
But we didn’t have cell phones or the computer or countless other things when I was a kid/teen either. I had the phone and boy I controlled that phone, lol. We had our “things” when I was a teen.
Oh my yes! Lebanon bologna is something like genoa sausage, yummmm, or a beef summer sausage. It has a little tart flavor that is wonderful :)
Genoa.... needs more coffee : /
