Welcome to the (I guess) official thread to the 73rd playing of the Masters Golf Tournament from the Augusta National Golf Club. Now the game that we love and it's season is now officially, let's see who will be walking the 18th fairway ready to slip the coveted green jacket on late Sunday afternoon.
We all know who's in the field. While I'm posting this thread early, we can discuss and predict who's going to win.

What? Should we change the name, too? Maybe Showdown in Augusta? How about: "The Gen X vs. Gen Y Tour Challenge."
Hey Baynative, looks like the consensus overwhelmingly favors tradition. ...as it should. Tradition is one of the many things that sets the Masters apart (and above) the rest. Hopefully one of the "dinosaurs" can make an exciting run again this year, as they're known to do on occasion.

And as I mentioned in post #212, Jack was a serious dinosaur in '98 when he finished only 4 shots back of the winner. Sam Snead was in in mid-50s when he made a serious run at yet another green jacket in '67. The list is long.

I saw on TGC that Snead in ‘48 won the Open and used 1 ball for all 4 rounds

does the Masters really need the dinosaurs? I couldn't disagree more.. One of the main reasons ALL players really, really want to win the Master's is: the fact that it guarantees them a chance to keep coming back.
Having been there many times, I can tell you.. seeing all the old guys there is a huge part of what make THIS tournament different... special.
The tournament officials are sensitive to your concerns. That is why, they "leaned on" Jack and Arnie a few years ago, to set a new trend for the older guys. But, they're welcome as long as they are playing anything close to competitively.

Sam was the man. Unfortunately I only saw him after he had (finally) retired to the senior tour.
I’m rooting for proto-dinosaur Kenny Perry (now at -6) to take the green jacket this year.
