If your cat was very sick, honey, you did the right thing, I promise. And I’m proud of you...that’s a hard, hard thing to do.
I did the same with my Labrador retriever when he was 13-1/2 years.
Ending the life of a beloved pet is one of the most difficult things to do but is sometimes necessary to end its suffering.
I’m very sorry for your loss, but rest assured, you did the right and humane thing. It’s never easy being the human, but we owe our pet friends our compassionate care.
Please visit the forum at http://petloss.com/ It will help.
I lost a much loved cat not long ago very unexpectedly, and it helped me. Be well.
You did the right thing.
Not inconsistent with pro-life beliefs at all.
When my kid first adopted a dog from the shelter, I told him, you will have to kill it one day.
That is what men do- they kill the animals when it needs to be done.
my condolences - remember - we are given dominion over the animals.....people are a different story altogether. Nothing hypocritical about it - Im struck by your empathy in the face of pain...and Im sure your memories are rich as are mine
sad ping
You did good and your love for your cat shows.
It may be hard now, but in time you’ll know you did the right thing.
You did the right thing. A pet always looks to you. I know it’s hard to put a pet you love to sleep, but it’s selfish to make him suffer.
I can empathize...it hurts like heck! You have my sympathy.
Putting a suffering animal down is humane. It doesn’t make you a pro-life hypocrite. When it’s your turn to cross over I’m sure the cat will be waiting for you to say thanks.
Don’t beat yourself up. You did the right thing.
I feel your pain. Been through the death of my dog.
He was sick in many ways but not enough to do that
although I would have somehow done it, had he gotten real bad.
Stay strong and know you did right.
The old boy had cancer. Even through I know I was doing the right thing, it hurt like the dickens. I cried like a baby.
Ya did the right thing my FRiend.
Regarding the life issue, even my priest who is a BIG dog lover put one of his own dog down after it was diagnosed with kidney failure.
I’m so sorry for your loss of your little friend and family member. I’m glad you were there with her, comforting her. I’m sure it was so very hard. Please post a picture of her for us here if you can, ok?
It was an act of LOVE. You may not believe this, but it is true.
Letting go of a pet is extremely difficult.
Concentrate on the good positive moments you've had with your cat. That's the way your cat would want to be remembered.
Wasn’t she so very lucky to have someone who loved her that much??!! You aren’t a hypocrite...you were compassionate, it hurt you MUCH MORE than it hurt her.
I once read that the mourning on the loss of a loved-one is the shadow of all the love they gave while alive, so focus not on the shadow, but the memory of that love.
We’ve had to do the same with two much loved dogs. We buried both of them in our back yard....and planted rose bushes on their graves. It hurt us, but we made sure that they didn’t hurt anymore. You did the right thing. At some point, suffering has to end.
