Obnoxious Music Suggestions Wanted
Freeper Kimmie7 | Today | Me

Okay guys, while I applaud the entrepreneurial (sp?) spirit of the young men down the street, while they wash cars for folks they keep their stereos going.

Surprise of all surprises, they never play a lovely concerto or opera. They play ghetto "music". All you can hear is bass and the occasional obscenity.

Because I am an old, um, severely un-tanned woman, I plan to play music as I wash the minivan, weed the flowerbed, walk to the mailbox, whatever...whenever they are playing their music. That's right folks - a regular Battle of the Bands!

Keeping in mind they would love much of the very "music" we hate...I'd like your suggestions to add to my boom box sitting on the front porch. Opera, Polka, what do you suggest? And to keep them interested I'll need a good variety.

Because these concerts will end when they realize they need to turn theirs down (and they will, I think. They don't seem to be bad kids...just kids) the selections will need to be cheap and easily obtained.

The soundtrack from the cartoon version of ‘Charlotte’s Web’. Think ‘Chin up! Chin up! Everybody loves a happy face!’ Ugh! It drives me nuts! My kids love that movie.

Anything by Powerman 5000. Another suggestion is to get a laser level and put the dot on their chests. Usually discourages the trash. isn't there an ordinance against loud music?

LOL Hubs used the laser pointer to rid the neighborhood of a bad element late, late one night.

Drove off so fast he probably needed new tires the next day.

Classical or J-pop should do it. Don’t think most homies are fans the way a lot of young white folks are.

When my neighbor gets on my last nerve, I play Berlioz.
Symphonie Fantastique, Op. 14: The Witches’ Sabbath. Also known as the beginning theme music in “The Shinning”. I tend to turn up the volume during the bell sequence. LOL

Bagpipe music, the only way to go if you want to annoy the neighbors.

How about some light classical from your cartoon-lovin' days?

Elmer Fudd - Kill the Wabbit!, The Lone Ranger Theme, Bugs Bunny doing 'The Barber of Seville', 'Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah'

Heck, pick any 'Dr Demento's Greatest Hits' CD and go for it!

You reminded me - try Klaus Nomi’s “Total Eclipse” or “You Don’t Know Me” (look up videos of same on youtube) - that should do it...gloriously demented and weird!

Traditional North Ohio wedding polkas.
Maybe a few gregorian chants.
And then throw an ABBA song into the mix.

It’s not obnoxious, but play plenty of bluegrass and country — although country music has a surprising amount of crossover appeal (so I’ve noticed, I don’t much care for it).

otherwise, some old obnoxious favorites of mine:

Spike Jones, “The Jones Laughing Record”
The Monkees, “Auntie Grizelda” (Peter sings that one)

This reminds me of the time i was cleaning out my van at our cabin and i played a John Denver CD really loud and drove my friends husband nuts. What’s really great about John Denver is it seems like young people universally don’t get him. I guess you had to be there. I WAS there so personally i love his music. It’s worth a shot!

Hey, can you do us all a favor? Let us know what you choose and how it works out. I feel your pain!

Which CD do you recommend? I love gregorian chants, thanks to my music appreciation course.
