A group of mothers plan to breastfeed in a Calgary pool Sunday morning to protest what they are calling harassment from lifeguards.
The women say it's their right to breastfeed wherever they want to, but the lifeguards at the southwest Killarney pool have asked them to get out of the water or use the change rooms for nursing.
Gemma Kelsall takes her two children to the pool every Thursday morning where they meet up with other families. If her 21-month-old Kaliya gets hungry, they don't leave the pool to breastfeed.
But lifeguards have told her she is not allowed to breastfeed in the water...
Kelsall said such confrontations have gone on for two years, with lifeguards telling her the child could consume pool water, drown, or vomit or defecate in the pool after breastfeeding. Lifeguards have also pointed to a sign that said no food or drink is allowed, she said.
Lisa Kathleen also breastfeeds in the wading pool and has been told to feed her three-year-old elsewhere.

On the edge or in the pool area I can understand but in the water ... that’s not sanitary for either the people in the pool, the mother, or the child.
I sure hope a bunch of protesters show up to protest life guards asking them to leave the pool to pee. They can line up around the pool and pee in while the protesting moms breast feed.

My wife knew someone who breastfed their child till that age. The kid would grope at breasts in public whenever he got hungry...
These self-indulgent entitlement queens need to be smacked the hell down, IMHO. Ban them from the pool for life.

Boys tend to outgrow that problem after a few decades. Clinton and Spitzer are almost there.
No three is not too old for breastfeeding. However I do not think being told to nurse outside of the pool is grounds for complaint. The moms should geth their asses out of the water and go sit someplace quiet and nurse their babies.
