As sad as the story is, the Mom and Dad should have done EVERYTHING in their power in 1994 to try to get out of that community and into a safer area for raising their surviving children.
Instead, they embraced the ignorance and entitlements handed out by the Democrats and liberals (Hell, the Mom is wearing an Obama T-Shirt) and stayed in an obvious dangerous situation.
I wish I could believe that. Until there is a major change in attitude and values, expect daily repeats.

It’s the CRIMINALS who want you to ‘stop snitchin’
This has become a back-asswards. A ‘snitch’ or ‘rat’ was someone who PARTICIPATED in a crime, but then turned in his accomplices in exchange for a lighter sentence for himself.
IT has evolved into meaning ANYONE who tells the police anything.
We need to teach young people that you are NOT a ‘snitch’ you are a WITNESS and need to get these crimilas off the street before they steel from or kill you or your mother.
I’m starting to these troubled, inner-city, “good boys” should really stop trying to “turn their lives around”.
Seems like every time one does, he ends up getting killed or killing other people, or both. Think about it, have you ever seen one of these fellows, who wasn’t “turning his life around” be involved in a killing? /sarc
Either that or perhaps parents and family members should stop lying to the media and admit that their little thugs were actually escalating their criminal activity and had no intention of “turning their lives around”.

No, not true...only the parts south of I-630. I live here and know the "no-go" areas. West Little Rock and the Heights are generally safer, but the gang bangers like to come into those communities and try to create havoc.

As someone posted on another thread some time ago, if you presented this story as a screenplay, the producers would toss you out on your butt for filling it with such hateful stereotypes.
A sad reality of life in the black community. One consoling piece of info is that blacks live better in the U.S. than they ever did in Africa. I guess it all goes back to what you do with your life and how you build your surroundings. If you don’t have, you probably didn’t build.
And we know for certain that 60 years of programs aimed at bettering the black community just ain’t working because progress comes from within.
