Later on, Holder is cited as saying he was dropping the charges because of Stevens' age....and the fact that he was ALREADY OUT OF THE SENATE.

Since Murtha is still in congress, can Holder investigate him now?

What a hit job. The Dems sure know how to take down their opponents, don't they?

Maybe it's me...but I read the article and have no clue what the alleged misconduct was.

Is this what passes for reporting on NPR? I gave up on them years ago, so I may be a little out of date on their standards (such as they are).

Typical. And people thought that it was better to vote for the Democrat... Well, they have this seat now and it’s another 6 years before we can get rid of their guy.

Why Republicans keep falling for this BS is beyond me.

Let's play "Guess The Party" where you have to identify the party of a politician in trouble based solely on information in the article.

Right there, second sentence of the second paragraph "Stevens was the longest-serving Republican in the Senate". Although later than usual for a Republican, it still is very early in the article. If he was a Democrat that fact would have been buried in paragraph 17 if it was mentioned at all.

The conviction served its purpose - ensuring another Democrat Senate seat. There is no way that the Democrat career prosecutors at the DOJ would want any sort of scrutiny of how the conviction was obtained.
