Inexperienced vet missed it as it can be controlled if found early.
Symptoms: slight cough, intermittent fever and diarrhea, stops eating. I saw the dog and it drank a lot of water before they noticed the fever. Did exploratory surgery and it had nodules on the spleen, a dead section of intestine and this fungus covering the lungs. Not in all areas of the country.
LOL!
Poor doggie! I’ve never heard of that!
Strategic reserve of alternative fuel.
Histo can also do a number on people. Much more common in the central part of US.
If any guy thinks about dating a woman who loves multiple cats, think again. Some years ago I visited the home of woman who had multiple cats, sixteen or around that number. She was a friend of my girl friend. The house looked immaculate, but smelled strongly of cat urine and disinfectant. I can imagine what a house filled with one hundred cats smells like. A lot worse.
We are in the Central part of the USA. Friend had spent a great deal of time holding and loving the dog, not knowing what he had. I wonder if she is at risk for coming down with this??
Persians are fairly docile cats and cooperative if you haven’t managed to offend their haughty sensibilities. Add to that, most long haired kitties have a decent appreciation for a good grooming, since it feels good to them, and they’d be a snap to care for.
We’ve got 4 kitties...2 tabby males and 2 long haired females...one believed to be part Maine Coon and the other is a Ragdoll mix.
If you look up HP, you’ll find out that a great many Americans have been infected, in some parts of the country 80% or more. For most people the infection is asymptomatic, with on the other end of the spectrum the usual suspects (sick, elderly, immune-compromised) sometimes dying from it. Unless she has unusual symptoms I wouldn’t worry about it.

However, anybody planning to clean up areas with large amounts of bird or bat droppings should take appropriate precautions.
When she feels like it...but so does one of the boys. It takes her a while to get started and then she acts like a little kitten, all dignity forgotten.
LOL @ your wife’s observation!
A friend of mine’s ex-wife is using a newly acquired kitty to torpedo the sale of their home. Trying to, anyway.
I absolutely agree about being a responsible pet owner, but I also understand how this could happen. People abandon cats in our neighborhood all the time and they come here looking for food and human companionship. They won’t just go away either. They camp out on my front porch so I can’t even let my kitty out or they fight. They are so loving and sweet, I just can’t be mean to them. We don’t have an animal shelter to take them to. We have a dog catcher that has been known to just kill the animals himself after he picks them up. It won’t do any good to report him to the sherrifs department. He works for them. So far I have been lucky about finding homes for the poor little abandoned ones but it is getting so hard.
The only problem with most grooming on the long hairs is the tendency to decide it’s time to roll and get the belly worked on more while the sides or neck still need more grooming. That’s mostly the calico’s (suspected MC mix) game tho.
Oddly enough both of the boys adore it too, to the point of trying to nudge the girls out of the way so they get more attention. They’re both short haired!
So, said ragdoll mix really doesn’t much like one of the young males I mentioned. Can’t quite blame her, he’s known to pick mock fights (not serious, he does it to be annoying pure and simple) with her. She’s sitting catloafed in the hall, he’s running around like a lunatic and nearly barrels into her. He stops just short, leans over and gives her a single slurp on the head, and resumes the chase. Poor girl just looks up at me with the most puzzled expression and meows as if to say “What on earth was THAT all about?”
I know a dog person who had over 30 dogs in cages for years in her house....totally disgusting. She’s forbidden to have more than 1 dog now....
PS..he probably does poop in the closet but you don't see it because he eats it right up. My friend took this dog back to where they bought it because it not only ate it's poop, it ate the cats poop too. She said when she puked in the kitchen sink they took it back.
BIrds leave over 60 diseases in your backyard ....they are the worse carriers of disease than anything else.
