A late March snowstorm — buck up, people, it’s not that unusual — is expected to deposit 3 to 8 inches of snow across most of southern Wisconsin by early Sunday.
Light snow could start Saturday morning, but most of the accumulation likely will come late Saturday afternoon and into the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
The heaviest accumulation is expected in a band from Janesville to Sheboygan. The southeast part of Dane County could get 7 inches, with the accumulation quickly tapering to 3 inches in the county’s northwest corner, said meteorologist Chris Kuhlman.
"But I want to stress that these storm systems can switch their tracks at any time," he said.
Weeks of visible grass and dirt may have lulled people into thinking winter was over, but the last day of measurable snow in southern Wisconsin is, on average, April 10, said Bill Borghoff, also a meteorologist with the National Weather Service near Milwaukee. On rare instances, it snows in May.
"Getting snow this time of year isn’t all that unusual," he said. "We live in Wisconsin. Winter hangs around well into spring."
Ths global warming is just terrible.
I was watching the local weather earlier this evening and thought that gorebull warming would be a good thing, right about now....
LOL! I know. I sold a ton of trees today because temps here have been rather moderate and all the snow is gone.
I warned people...but no one listens to me as they hand me their money, LOL! :)

There’s “mostly” always a good farewell snowstorm this time of the year.
We just had 16 inches here in Colorado. It isn’t spring until we have a nice wet blizzard.

Well, this IS happening ‘On 0bama’s Watch’ so we’ll wait to see how bad it is before we lay blame. ;)
Just great, I just took the plow off the mower last week and put the mower deck on getting ready for summer use. Oh well, it shouldn’t last long.... um, will it?

My sister got 10” near Denver yesterday, but they had been expecting 18” so they think they got off lightly.
I also remember an April 1 snowstorm in Michigan that dumped 6 inches of really heavy snow. My mom woke us up with the news and we all said, yeah, right, April Fools, ha ha ha.
Our annual “April Fool’s Day Blizzard” is coming early this year?
I have a photo somewhere of a May 5 snow storm from sometime in the late 1980s. I had put over 40 impatiens out under an old cedar tree. The tree protected the flowers, which were blooming in a circle surrounded by a couple inches of snow. Quite pretty.
Heck, we get frost every year around the 23rd of May!
Last Saturday, I went out to clean up the garden and there was some ice under the old mulch!
It is only March, people! Some years, it can be as cold as February up here. Since it is usually a damp cold, it feels worse than February.
It’s here! The cat and I are watching birds at the feeder gorge themselves, so they know something is up.
I’m predicting 6” by morning. It coming down fast and furious.
