"Heaven goes by favor; if it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in."
"If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man."
"When a man's dog turns against him it is time for a wife to pack her trunk and go home to mama."
Mark Twain

My tells me all the time that my dog is just like me....or, maybe it was the other way around.

"Heaven goes by favor; if it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in."Ain't that the truth. A heaven full of dogs if preferable to a heaven full of people.

Dogs are loyal to a fault, and unfailingly render unconditional love. They are nothing like people at all as far as I can see.

Most of my best friends have been dogs.

A heaven full of dogs if preferable to a heaven full of people.Twain had that covered too: "The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven, not man's. "

I always know what my dog is thinking: So: what else do you have for me to eat? (He’s a beagle, and damned lucky he’s cute).

So we came from dogs now?

“Dogs (not chimps) most like humans”
This is why God gave man dogs as a companion and not Chimps or any primate for that matter. With rare exceptions, chimps do not make good pets.

So we came from dogs now?Dogs came from us. They were noble wolves until we made them mere surrogates of our best and our worst.

But who says people really are social animals?
Dogs may be man at this best, but chimps -- or even cats -- may be more like we really are.

Yep. Dogs probably like chimps almost as much as they like people.
