Zoo Reports Rare Captive Birth of Bird

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - It's called a white-crested laughing thrush and it's bringing smiles to zookeepers in Syracuse. The Rosamond Gifford Zoo greeted a new bird March 7. The chick is named Zephyr.

Cute bird. I hope the little squirt does well. Birth is the beginning. One of my favorite books as a kid was Birth of an Island that had pictures of the volcanic stuff coming up out of the ocean. The Birth of a Nation is an interesting movie. You can give birth to an idea or a social movement or a new quirk.

I like the crested birds, lots of Cardinals here. Some Bluejays.

Did you have any idea what kind it was? I used to have a bird book when my kids were young, it should be around here somewhere but it's easy to look online now.
