I have to ask... why did you want to go and expose yourself to that radiation?

Just outside Yuris headquarters is the monument to the firemen who died after the explosion. The monument was erected by the firemen themselves. After the explosion, firemen raced to the plant withihn 2 minutes of hearing the alarm, unknowingly exposing themselves to lethal doses of radiation.
I always count these guys among the heros of the world and I don't buy that they didn't know. I remember seeing some video shot as it was going on and the cameraman was crying because he knew he was a goner. He was saying that he could feel the radiation as a tingling or vibration in his bones. Also you could see the static it created in the video.

Thank you very much for posting.
I notice also that there was no animal life in the photos. Maybe none would be expected in the light of day, but I’m guessing that the radiation plays a role too.

Just wow. My dad was stationed in Munich when this happened. I remember my mother telling us youngins to stay out of the snow. I was afraid to turn off my light because I really didn’t want to know if I would glow in the dark as my older brother swore I would just before I died.

Dang, for a minute there I thought I was viewing photos of downtown Detroit! Then I saw the Russian language signs and knew that I was wrong, that those were photos and signs in Moscow on the Potomac, formerly Washington, DC. That is how it will look in 2012 after four years of the messiah!

We move on, now were at the Red Forest. So called because on the night of the accident, the whole forest glowed red I don't believe this makes sense. IIRC the real reason for the name "Red Forest" is because all the trees were killed by the radiation and the leaves on the dead trees had a reddish tinge.
