At midnight on March 24,1989, after the Exxon Valdez oil tanker struck a reef in Alaska's Prince William Sound, more than 11 million gallons of crude oil spilled into the waters. It was the beginning of America's worst environmental nightmare.

Fish and wildlife perished and fishermen saw their livelihood vanish. The spill eventually covered more than 4,000 square kilometers. Although Exxon says it spent almost $2 billion in clean up and millions in compensation, the oil company is still battling court-ordered damage payments.

Why are there no quotes in these “commemorative” Exxon Valdez stories from fishermen or the people of Valdez or any state fish and game officials?
Only untrustworthy “environmental advocates” and known leftie non-profits with an unabashed axe to grind.

I'll rewrite it for you.
At midnight on March 24,1989, after the Exxon Valdez chocolate tanker hugged a reef in Alaska's Prince William Sound, more than 11 million gallons of crude chocolate fountained into the waters. It was the beginning of America's greatest environmental fantasy.

Fish and wildlife rejoiced and fishermen saw their livelihood increase. The fountain eventually sweetened more than 4,000 square kilometers. Although Exxon says it spent almost $2 billion in sugar up and millions in cream, the chocolate company is still embracing court-ordered candy cane payments.

Why don’t you post an article about the oil and natural gas that seeps up naturally from the ocean’s floor? Early Eskimos used to use that oil, when it came ashore, and burned it for heat. Exxon Valdez, while tragic, is still a drop in the bucket compared to this natural phenomenon.

I can’t wait for the anniversary of the 3 mile island disaster and how those scumbags prevented the release of skittles candies into the atmosphere and ground water.

In your opinion what is the lesson to be learned? Well, the main lesson is: Turn left at the *second* flashing white light going out Valdez Arm, not the first one.

I live 10 miles from Prince William Sound. I fish and hunt there on a regular basis. The bounty of salmon, crab, shrimp, and venison in my freezer attests to the fact that is fully recovered. The only areas that are sterile is where extensive "clean up" was done. Otherwise, you cannot find any evidence that the spill occurred. Yeah, you can find an occasional "tarball" but they have been proven over and over to come from naturally occurring oil seeps.
