I'm getting $90,000 settlement for a car accident with the attorney getting $30,000, the physical therapist getting $11,400, and me getting $45,711, and a bunch of small amounts to various providers. What are the things I have to watch out for so that I know I'm being treated correctly by my attorney?
This should be fun...
I think you should sue him.
Gimme an “I”
Gimme a “B”
Gimme a “T”
Gimme a “Z”
Yayyyy!!!!!
One-third sounds like a fairly typical contingency fee. I assume all this money is cash that’s paid immediately?
If so .. ya dun good, buddy boy.
Sue them all!!!!
A third to the attorney seems about right, providing he was operating on a contingent agreement.

Welcome to free republic, troll.
If you want to see if your attorney is treating you right, reach back and feel for lubricant. Quick, though, before he rams you.
Thailand?
When you signed up to post this drivel...
You promised to send $50,000 here.
Your attorney did the work. Pay them
All the fees (expert witnesses, court fees, travel, per diem) will come out of your share. The Lawyer will take it’s share first out of the total, then you pay the rest from yours.
You’ll get a lot less than you are anticipating.

Oh, I meant log off.
If the lawyer did less than 300 hours of work on you case your are getting massively ripped off by your lawyer.
Hiring a lawyer, vice taking one who wanted to maximize their payout and minimize their work would have been a better plan.
Can you imagine if doctors worked like lawyers? “I’ll treat you and if you die its free. However, if you live I want 30% of everything you’ll ever make after your recovery.”
You person injury lawyer is failing at his job if he does not injure your person.
You must take the aggressive stance here and provoke the person injury lawyer.
Throw hot coffee in his face.
Insult his mama and his wife.
Heck, reach out and smack the sucker.
The person injury lawyer may then be inclined to injure your person
and then you just may have a case legally.
Many people avoid person injury lawyers.
Insist upon a complete detailed breakdown of what you would receive (net of expenses) under any settlement proposal.
Have your attorney make his (or her) settlement recommendation to you in writing and explain his (or her) reasoning.
Absolutely not. Your lawyer should take at least 90% of that, so after therapy, you’ll be in the hole..
That is the injury lawyer way!
I would answer your questions, but I would charge you more than you have left... and I’m not a lawyer.
