This must be the first time I even slightly support the ACLU.

Oh, please, it’s obviously Windows 2000, this isn’t the future.

It seems to have escaped most on this thread that this little bit of black humor perfectly embodies the schizoid nature of the ACLU: Freud called this projection, but it’s only an Administration like Obama’s that would get close to this kind of invasion of privacy and monitoring
of personal information, buying habits and worse, political “preference” or affiliation, not to mention voting patterns, and of course the ACLU defends Administrations like Obama’s . There is NO reason to think the ACLU means what it says here, because the implication is that all of this comes from the Bush Administration and their gross violation of our rights. Once again, Freud called this projection, and the ACLU has just revealed itself in a most naked way.

I sincerely doubt there will be very many people who can even afford to buy a pizza let alone a candy bar come 2010. I expect the jobless rate to increase dramatically over the next few months and years given the reckless financial and economic policies of the Obozo administration.

Absolutely correct. The ACLU has absolutely ZERO problem with the government collecting astronomical amounts of personal data when it comes to income taxes (or any other taxes), gun registration and racial composition in public schools and businesses. The ACLU has consistenly and strongly OPPOSED individual privacy with respect to various indoctrination schemes foisted upon the public schools. The ACLU also didn't say peep when Mike Nifong perpetrated a gross injustice, even though Duke University has a local chapter. Lastly, in many instances the ACLU has showed itself to be no friend of free speech whenever the speech is critical of homosexuality or Islam.

The ACLU is simply a phony organization that doesn't consistently support or believe in civil liberties. Instead, it's an organization that seeks to promote a loathsome political agenda behind a facade of civil liberties. And I have no doubt that with Obama in charge, the ACLU will have NO problem with the government collecting enormous amounts of personal information.

Good lord. This was done 6 or 7 YEARS AGO, back in the Bush administration. Where have you guys been?

That's the reason it looks like Windows 2000, BTW.

It's just making the rounds one more time. ;-)

Oh, I understand, no problem, and no offense intended. Just sayin', the ACLU page that contains this video (http://aclu.org/pizza) says:

"The government and corporations are aggressively collecting information about your personal life and your habits. They want to track your purchases, your medical records, and even your relationships. The Bush Administration's policies, coupled with invasive new technologies, could eliminate your right to privacy completely. Please help us protect our privacy rights and prevent the Total Surveillance Society."
Which of course is why, in anti-Obama contexts, the link is given directly to the flash video file, rather than the page on the ACLU site, since that would make it clear this is quite old.

I just wanted to straighten out the folks who thought that the ACLU was saying anything about Obama (e.g. comments #8, #10, etc.).
