There’s a beauty contest on the Eastern Shore of Maryland (Slim’s ancestral home) where the young ladies not only have to look good but have to skin a muskrat (speed and lack of damage to the pelt counts).

we would be surprised with a mink. $$$$$$ that was a payday

Andrew Zimmern ate Nutria stew on one episode of Bizarre Foods. Said it was pretty tasty.
It’s also a pretty invasive pest, from what I’ve read. Uncontrolled, these things breed quickly and do large amounts of damage to the vegetation in the area they live in.

Back in the 70’s and even the 80’s my buddies used to trap and hunt coon, fox, muskrat, coyote, rabbit and mink for fur and make good money at it. Not even worth the time to do it now.
