Hmmm...maybe we won’t come straight home tomorrow morning. We’re going to be on the other side of town anyway...
My squadron and shop used to do all their heavy (read: dirty) maintenance. We used to catch them “borrowing” parts from the spare line, reducing our readiness rate.
When they got new engines, they needed new gearboxes on them. They estimated it would take about 2.5 months for us to do all the modifications required. We had them out the door in about four weeks. There was talk of a Commendation Medal for everyone on our crew, then they talked about a personalized lithograph, then a beer bust, and then they sent some guy from pneudraulics to the jet engine shop with a handful of brochures.
So, yeah - the Thunderturds. I love to watch them fly - but I know about all the blood, sweat and tears that other folks put into their performances.
