My squadron and shop used to do all their heavy (read: dirty) maintenance. We used to catch them “borrowing” parts from the spare line, reducing our readiness rate.
When they got new engines, they needed new gearboxes on them. They estimated it would take about 2.5 months for us to do all the modifications required. We had them out the door in about four weeks. There was talk of a Commendation Medal for everyone on our crew, then they talked about a personalized lithograph, then a beer bust, and then they sent some guy from pneudraulics to the jet engine shop with a handful of brochures.
So, yeah - the Thunderturds. I love to watch them fly - but I know about all the blood, sweat and tears that other folks put into their performances.
Well that’s not right ... I understand inter-service rivalry but that’s wrong ... they should have had their own facilities and supply ... I wonder how the Navy Blue Angels handle it ...I have two brothers in the Army, one a chopper pilot the other a weapons officer ... back home safe from Iraq ...
