Freedom of religion is not freedom from religion.

This Evangelical is delighted that my Catholic brothers and sisters have found a place to exchange information and ideas and explore their Faith in a friendly environment.
God bless them and I hope they continue.

"If I wanted to read or be exposed to all of that I would join their Church."
The simple solution is not to bother to open a thread that you are not interested in. I do not see the point in whining about being "exposed" to such things. This is not DU where they see themselves as victims of forces beyond their control.

Have you considered reading only the news forum, or would that leave you with nothing to complain about.

Ten years is a long time to just br noticing the religious threads on FR. Maybe you should try posting this to the Religion forum, and find out first hand.
Until then, maybe you can just scroll on past the threads you dislike, or in which you have no interest.

This thread needs an anecdote:
One of seven kids. We went to Catholic grade school. Once my mom was studying the saints with my sister. She was about 6-7 at the time. They got to Francis of Assisi. She got a confused look on her face and asked, “Why do they call him a sissy? Is it because he liked animals?”

I hope you don't get ZOTTED here, BooBoo.
I'm a Roman Catholic who would normally find a post like yours offensive, but for some reason I can't explain there's something about it that actually makes it quite entertaining in a "Howard Dean Scream" sort of way.

You need to have a semblance of sarcasm in your thread for it to BE sarcasm.

Debate on church doctrine and or threads on specific religious matters may be best posted in the religion forum, but the defense of religious freedom, especially against those who wish to deprive us of same belongs front and center on FR.
They banned God and prayer and creationism from public schools and public places, but Ill be damned if theyre gonna ban Him or it from FR!

AS I UNDERSTAND IT: 1. JimRob is rightly outraged that God and Christ have been exiled from the public square in America by the globalist oligarchy--increasingly over the last decades.
2. Jim is particularly not about to exclude prayer threads given prayer has been excluded from our schools in any formal way.
3. Conservatives are overwhelmingly God-fearing Christians.
4. Such Christians--hopefully most of them--earnestly seek to have God involved in the whole of their lives and construe reality THROUGH THEIR CHRISTIAN WORLD VIEW.
5. Therefore, it is virtually impossible for earnest Christians to discuss politics or anything else apart form their Christianity.
6. JimRob has wisely and graciously set aside the RELIGION FORUM for exclusively discussing religion on FR.
7. The Religion Moderator is an excellent person with great gifts, maturity, fairness, wisdom, courage, stamina, perspective, balance, experience . . . and moderates the forum about as expertly as anyone could and certainly head and shoulders above any other similar function ever filled on this forum or any other.
8. The RM has established caucus threads for WITHIN group protected discussions and OPEN threads for vigorous exchanges and ecumenical for calm discourses.
9. IF YOU WANT TO AVOID THE RELIGION THREADS, avoid clicking on the whole FORUM button at the top as all religion threads are included in that listing.
10. IIRC, You'll need to click only on NEWS/ACTIVISM probably every time you reboot or login to avoid the generic listing of all threads if your cookie has ended up being set and includes all forums.
11. I'm quite annoyed at the Roman Catholic efforts to turn FR into an arm of the Vatican as well. However, I don't think anything further can be done about that within the bounds of fairness. Other perspectives could post MORE for more balance but that's not likely either.
12. Some evangelicals and even some of us Charismatics/Pentecostals hold forth on various topics from time to time. Nevertheless, the RC's are probably one of the most if not the most rabidly vigorous and parochial flagwavers of any of the Christian brands. At least many of them are not luke warm. Good on them for that.
13. Gracioiusness, charity, civility, and understanding are reasonable and vital things to extend to other FREEPRS regardless of their perspective and world view.
14. Certainly any of us can write idiocies from time to time and no doubt a host of fierce posters will declare such to be the case. However, we can all endeavor to extend to one another the grace we'd like to receive in our daily lives . . . and help make FR a more civil place than it otherwise can be at times.
CHEERS.

As a Baptist, I’m interested in the Catholic point of view because they’re so conservative on many issues. So, where there’s a direct correlation to something political or social, I’m cool with that. However, devotionals, etc., I don’t appreciate.
I stopped listening to Laura Ingraham because so much of her time is spent in promoting Catholicism. My 85-year-old friend also stopped for the same reason.
