Maybe longer than that. The Federal Reserve Bank, a non-governmental institution that sets our monetary policy, was created in 1913. That being the case I have to wonder why we even have a Sec. of the Treasury.
I worry about what is to come in this country until I go to the local gun stores and pistol ranges. Then I think that Obama must be the dumbest guy in Washington (and that is saying something) if he thinks that the masses will quietly take the change he is really dreaming about. His administration seems to be flicking a lot of matches near the powder keg.

Yes, the war on the Constitution began almost before the ink was dry on the last signature. The process hit high gear under Woodrow Wilson who blessed us with the Federal Reserve (which is not federal and has no reserves but prints fiat “money” almost without limit), the INCOME TAX (which was necessary to vacuum the excess paper “money” and credit from the system lest the proles catch on to the scam) and the League of Nations (precursor to the equally worthless UN).
Wilson was a COLLEGE PROFESSOR. Nearly ALL of Obamessiah’s crew are also ACADEMICS or political hacks with little or no REAL WORLD, FREE MARKET economic experience.

These "promises" total over 57 TRILLION dollars. The baby boomers are almost ready to start retiring in massive numbers. They want their goodies. The federal workforce, along with the teachers and police are starting to retire in large numbers as they've put in their time as well. They want their goodies. Same for the military, etc. etc. The poverty folks are falling further behind and they will be making their continued demands.
If you are the United States government and are FLAT BROKE, how do you handle this situation? You can't pay your bills. You can't let the ones you've promised so much to find out it was all just a scam, at least if you are a current office holder. There is ONLY ONE SOLUTION. You anger the masses to the point of breaking up the country into separate political entities. Doing this means your day of reckoning NEVER arrives. You don't ever have to show your hand. You simply allow history to change the landscape politically as you melt back into whichever society emerges. That 57 trillion dollar turd NEVER hits the fan. Knowing the end is near so to speak, steal as much "future" wealth as you can and take care of your buddies on Wall Street before you leave office (Bush), and take care of your buddies as you (Obama) wreck the nation into the disarray that will bring about this "change" everyone thought they were voting for.
