UPDATE 2:00 PM ET -- The hospital tells TMZ Richardson is sedated and suffering from brain swelling -- but is not brain dead.
UPDATE: 1:37 PM ET -- We're told Richardson's jet was scheduled to take off from Montreal-Trudeau Airport. A rep for the airport said the jet is either still there or has just taken off.
We're told Natasha Richardson has been transported from the hospital in Canada via ambulance. CTV says she boarded a private jet -- we do not know where the jet has gone, but we believe it's New York City.
Richardson was accompanied by a medic team for the flight.
She was in “Species,” which indubitably established that she is good looking.

Yeah, you heard it here - get with the program and become obsessed with the private lives of celebrities (those known for being known), like the rest of us!
Ski accident. She seemed fine at first then started getting headaches a few hours later.
Sounds like a classical subdural hematoma, but I thought the procedure was fairly basic (you drill a hole, drain it out and hope for the best).
Why does she need to be flown south for the operation. Every minute is supposed to count.
Although the phenomenon can sometimes take days, weeks, even months to do the victim in. Some say that’s what killed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
I hope she recovers and obviously her family believes NYC hospital offers higher quality medical services than the socialized medicine in Canada. I doubt if any media reporter will mention this fact.

The /s rings loud and clear. And since I’ve done quite well without the fantasizing all these years, I guess I’ll just continue to struggle along. It’s hard to miss what I don’t care about. But when I hear of someone having misfortune as Ms. Richardson has, I convey my regrets. Know or like them, or not...
The picture doesn't give you any idea what he looks like, but I've just sort of thought of him as that lion, since it probably is his most famous role.
Natasha Richardson used to be better known than her younger sister Joely, but now Natasha's probably better known as Vanessa Redgrave's other daughter, the one who isn't on that trashy Nip/Tuck series.
She's alright as an actress and better looking than her sister, but hasn't really promoted her career as much as others in show business.
Many of the world’s best doctors are in NYC. Either hopefully to recover, or before giving up on a hopeless case, you’d want to consult with the best, especially if money was no object.
I think you are right. It's getting so you can't tell the Natashas apart without a scorecard.
While not the actress Richardson is..this Natasha was indeed a sight to behold in the sci-fi film “Species”..all leggy 5’-10” of her.......
