So good to see you back with us. I really do value your critiques since you know what the singing is all about. So funny about the twins being Idol fans already. After all, they were here with you just before they were born. What I like about Matt Giraud is that he is low-key, laid back, and way cool. He reminds me of Perry Como, when Perry (and I) were young.

Hi, Palladin! Well, that's a reasonable reason to like Giraud, though I can't say I share your enthusiasm. I do tend to like the showier singers. (Hence my respect for Adam's singing, though I question his presentation -- a lot!!!)

Yes, it's so funny about the boys -- they just love Idol. G. tries to sing along, and S. (we call him "the dancin' man!") dances and jigs his way through each song. They are just delightful (if I do say so myself!).

I have to say that Adam does not offend me in the same way he obviously does you. When I majored in theatre in college (about a zillion years ago!) I knew a lot of gay students who were a lot like him. I think a lot of gay people calm down and chill out as they get older, but when they are young and often have recently come out of the closet, they seem to have a need to prove something. Hence the ridiculous and icky drag outfits, smooching in public and full makeup, etc. I guess what I’m saying is that I’ve *seen* this behavior before, from people I knew personally, who were not bad people at all (although they certainly had issues with their sexuality). I haven’t watched Adam’s “tribute” to the flag, though, so maybe I just haven’t seen all there is to see.

I do think that Adam is not a standalone artist. I see him on Broadway, or maybe frontman with the right band (yes, I saw all those jokes yesterday! :). I see no chance of him winning Idol.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for my boys! I can’t believe it either! Glad it’s true, though. :)

Hey all, not typing this from a computer, so comments will be brief.

Faves this season are Danny, Kris, and Alexis. (Upset that the viewers booted her off so soon.)

Don’t get the love for Matt. Feel the same about Lil Rounds.

Adam can sing, but he’s absolute trash. He’s the kind of fool who will never mature beyond the rebellious stage. (A man-child, if you will.) He’s an embarrassment to all of us gays who live normal lives. I hope his rear is booted off soon. Oh, and his odd song arrangements don’t belong on a show geared towards the mainstream.

As someone who is also trained, I do agree with your educated opinion of his range and control. He simply blows everyone else out of the water this year in those categories.

Bottom line, IMO, is that Adam would not be a good American Idol. If he applied his gift to arrangements that were a bit more mainstream, and he quit acting like a cheap male escort singing to his old, fat John at some sleazy club on karaoke night, then he might have a chance at being a decent Idol.

Oh, and the flag thing is him singing the anthem in front of people dressed up as sheep. Gotta love how artsy wannabees think such obvious messages are deep and thought-provoking.

One other thing on the save. If they use the save and the next week the saved one is a trainwreck then all heck will break loose. So if the save comes into play it will be very interesting on how things play out.

Me from first post : I really didn't think they would burn the save this early. I hated to see Alexis go I really like the sound of her voice. Whenever they do the save it will be controversial because next week 2 will have to go then it will be whoever was saved where they really worth saving to see that one of the two should have stayed. Because the next week it will be the 2 lowest vote totals that get the boot.

There could be a lot of negative fallout should they ever use the save. But if it is a fan favorite it could be a big positive. That is why I think back stories play to big of a role in this sometimes.
