I was, and then I had a rather nasty and unfortunate run-in with Government bureaucrats over a debt owed in which I was torn apart despite being in the right.

Now, I'm a conservative with excessively libertarian leanings.

However, I doubt Meghan McCain will turn, unless she does a few years in the school of hard knocks and real life.

Laura was mocking the exact SAME tone liberals take when talking about conservatives. It was a backhand to babygirl and liberals. I’m shocked more freepers didn’t get it.

Hasselback may be a Republican, but she's not a conservative. She may seem conservative when setting next to her rabidly liberal co-host, but she's not conservative.

Elizabeth probably wouldn't disagree with that. She doesn't want to be defined by politics.

But for a 31 year-old woman who lives in New York (or Seattle or Boston) and works in the media she is about as conservative as someone in her position could be and deserves some credit for that.

Is it too much to ask that on a show with a panel of 5 women, we can't have an articulate, knowledgeable and apologetically conservative woman who won't shrink from criticism in hopes of being "accepted" in her profession or her place of residence?

Hasselback is on the View precisely because she's none of these things. If there was a conservative woman with half a brain and a little charisma on that show, the gals of the View wouldn't be able to run roughshod over the conservative counterpoint to an otherwise overwhelmingly liberal cast.

Yes. It's too much to ask from network television.
