My brother visited Argentina a few weeks ago. He’s been living in Spain for a few years now. Within the first week, he got sick, some kind of strong flu, even though climate isn’t that cold and he took care of himself. Without a doubt he got sick because there are lots of new viruses in my country that can’t be found in 1st world countries. The misery and famine lead us to a situation where, even though you have food, shelter and health care, most of others don’t, and therefore they get sick and spread the diseases all over the region.
What got me started on this post is the fact that I actually saw this coming, and posted on the subject here at Frugal’s, months before the new viruses spread over the country and the news started talking about this new, health emergency, which proves that talking, thinking and sharing ideas with like minded people (you guys), does help to see things coming and prepare for them with enough time. So I started thinking about several issues, what I learned (either the hard way or thanks to this forum) after all these years of living in a collapsed country that is trying to get out an economical disaster and everything that comes along with it. Though my English is limited, I hope I’m able to transmit the main ideas and concepts, giving you a better image of what you may have to deal with some day, if the economy collapses in your country. Here is what I have so far:
URBAN OR COUNTRY?
Someone once asked me how did those that live in the country fare. If they were better off than city dwellers. As always there are no simple answers. Wish I could say country good, city bad, but I can’t, because if I have to be completely honest, and I intend to be so, there are some issues that have to be analyzed, especially security. Of course that those that live in the country and have some land and animals were better prepared food-wise. No need to have several acres full of crops. A few fruit trees, some animals, such as chickens, cows and rabbits, and a small orchard was enough to be light years ahead of those in the cities. Chickens, eggs and rabbits would provide the proteins, a cow or two for milk and cheese, some vegetables and fruit plants covered the vegetable diet, and some eggs or a rabbit could be traded for flower to make bread and pasta or sugar and salt.
Of course that there are exceptions, for example, some provinces up north have desert climate and it almost never rains. It is almost impossible to live of the land, and animals require food and water you have to buy. Those guys had it bad; no wonder the Northern provinces suffer the most in my country. Those that live in cities, well they have to manage as they can. Since food prices went up about 200%-300%. People would cut expenses wherever they could so they could buy food. Some ate whatever they could; they hunted birds or ate street dogs and cats, others starved. When it comes to food, cities suck in a crisis. It is usually the lack of food or the impossibility to acquire it that starts the rioting and looting when TSHTF.
When it comes to security things get even more complicated. Forget about shooting those that mean you harm from 300 yards away with your MBR. Leave that notion to armchair commandos and 12 year old kids that pretend to be grown ups on the internet.
Some facts:
1) Those that want to harm you/steal from you don’t come with a pirate flag waving over their heads.
2) Neither do they start shooting at you 200 yards away.
3) They won’t come riding loud bikes or dressed with their orange, convict just escaped from prison jump suits, so that you can identify them the better. Nor do they all wear chains around their necks and leather jackets. If I had a dollar for each time a person that got robbed told me “They looked like NORMAL people, dressed better than we are”, honestly, I would have enough money for a nice gun. There are exceptions, but don’t expect them to dress like in the movies.
4) A man with a wife and two or three kids can’t set up a watch. I don’t care if you are SEAL, SWAT or John Freaking Rambo, no 6th sense is going to tell you that there is a guy pointing a gun at your back when you are trying to fix the water pump that just broke, or carrying a big heavy bag of dried beans you bought that morning.
The best alarm system anyone can have in a farm are dogs. But dogs can get killed and poisoned.

This is nothing new. It began way back when. At some point I will write a thread about my memories of Argentina. Being here now it’s all deja vu to me. I keep warning people but they look at me as if I am nuts. The coup is taking place as we speak but they keep saying “it can’t happen here”, just like jews said in Germany. We are lobsters slowly boiling to a simmer.
Seems years ago pastor David Wilkerson warned the U.S. would have a major crash some time after Argentina’s crash, if I remember correctly. Need to research to be sure. It was some years ago and not his most recent warning (last week).
Will try to find it and post here later tonight hopefully.
1000 FIRES IN NEW YORK CITY DUE TO RACE RIOTS IN 1993?
From a prophecy David Wilkerson had September 7, 1992:
“I have had recurring visions of over 1,000 fires burning at one time here in New York city. I am convinced race riots will soon explode! New York City is right now a powder keg-ready to blow!...federal and State Welfare cutbacks will be the spark that ignites the fuse. Next year, New York City could have over 100,000 angry men on the streets, enraged because they have been cut off from benefits....Federal troops will have to move in to restore order. New York City will have tanks running down its avenues....Churches will be closed for a season because it will be too dangerous to travel about. Fires will rage everywhere.”
Although Wilkerson set the expiration date of this prophecy himself - “ Next year” (meaning 1993), he now says that this is yet future. This is a common expedient for those who assume themselves to be prophets, moving the goal-posts, hoping that others will forget by then.
Here are some quotes from Wilkerson’s book “The Vision” written in 1973:

“The United States government is going to overreact to the confused economical developments.”
“I see a flurry of near-panic decision being made by various government agencies, but these hasty efforts to shore up the economy will backfire.”

“WITHOUT A DOUBT, THERE ARE LEAN YEARS AHEAD FULL OF MONETARY CONFUSION AND DESPAIR. THE WORLDS GREATEST ECONOMISTS WILL BE AT A LOSS TO EXPLAIN THE CONFUSION, AND AN INTERNATIONAL CRISIS OF FEAR WILL DEVELOP. A FALSE ECONOMIC BOOM WILL PRECEDE THE RECESSION, BUT IT WILL BE SHORTLIVED.”
“The auto industry is going to be hurt badly. Makers of recreational vehicles are going to get hit very hard. Appliance inventories will pile up, and sales will fall off drastically.”
“Almost every economic indicator will be gloomy. It will be spotty at first, but will eventually affect nearly all industry. The worlds greatest economists will be at a loss to explain it.”
“There is worldwide economic confusion just ahead. In my vision, this is the clearest thing I have seen. Many praying people now share this very same vision.”
“Not only is the American dollar headed for deep trouble, but so are all other world currencies. I see total economic confusion striking Europe first and then affecting Japan, the United States, Canada, and all other nations shortly thereafter.”
“It is not really a depression I see coming, but a recession of such magnitude that it will affect the lifestyle of nearly every wage earner in America and around the world. Countries that now control huge amounts of Western currency are going to be in very deep trouble also. Arab countries will especially be hurt.”
“I believe we are going to witness the bankruptcies of some of this nation’s major and most popular corporations. I see tremendous difficulty arising for credit corporations. There are going to be many people unable to pay off their heavy obligations to major credit card companies, causing near-chaos.”
“Thousands of small businesses will also be forced into bankruptcies. Three, and possibly four, of the major religious denominations will be forced to operate with a skeleton organization due to a lack of funds. More than a few churches are going to have to pull back. All but a few of the radio and television ministries will have to be abandoned.”
“Tight money will trigger a wave of uncertainty and fear. Those who have money will hold it in reserve.”

“I see many of the last Christians who were once lovers of God becoming shipwrecked by their obsessive love for pleasure. Lovers of God find no pleasure in drugs, illegitimate sex, alcohol, tobacco or smut. The devil knows that. Most of these fleshly pleasures offend and repulse the Christian.”
“I see thousands of Christians sitting in theaters exposing themselves to degrading influences they once abhorred. They have not given themselves over to any particular sin but they have become very comfortable in their addiction to off-color movies, numerous parties, socials and wine-tasting. They really love God but they love their pleasures even more. They are not really sinners before God, just strangers to Him. They have become so busy swinging and trying to live a liberated Christian life that they have changed drastically without knowing what they have become.”

I would take what I could get out of it with ideas for my own survival. It could be a total work of fiction I guess.
2) The value of a good pistol, since you can have it on you as you go about your business (unlike a rifle or shotgun)
I've got a donkey that will kick the shit out of anyone that tries to trespass. Just ask the fool who tried to steal two cans of diesel fuel from me last year.
1) Gold coins and bars not being worth more than junk gold jewelry in a barter scenario, as the people you will be bartering with have no reliable way to assess the real gold content of your stuff.
