I prowled around the edges of the saltmarsh, found some Snowy Egrets. These birds aren't showing color change for breeding season yet, although the plumage is right for the time. The lores and feet will get red before long.
The Ibis are from the flock out near my homestead.

Those are Sandhill Cranes. Where are you located? Was that pair there themselves? Maybe nesters?

Swamp, as always, you are right on the money. Did you notice those very bright yellow feet on that Egret?
We get some Egrets migrating through, but they are seen in the marshes from a distance. I have never seen one's bare feet up close and personal!

BTW, Swampsniper, are there any fish in that lake? Any Gators?

The feet will turn red as breeding readiness approaches. The yellow lore in front of the eye also turns red.

My main camera now is a Panasonic FZ30. I still use an old Olympus C2100UZ as well, it's 10 years old, but still does great work. I also have another old Olympus, a C2500L, that does good closeup shots.
It doesn't take a great big camera, just a decent camera and lots of practice.

Those are Sandhill Cranes. Where are you located? Was that pair there themselves? Maybe nesters? I'm in rural north-central Florida, just west of the Ocala National Forest. There were other birds in that field yesterday but none of the same species. Usually there are cows in that field and there is a swamp close by where I've seen otters.
This morning that same field was empty.

I have a run-of-the-mill digital camera and can’t get the closeups that I want. I want to upgrade and take pretty pictures like you do!

How is it the oysters are standing at attention?
Beautiful pics, as usual, but this is the first time you’ve made me hungry.
Some Old Bay, cornmeal, tartar sauce... fry ‘em up.

You’ve given me the hots to take a trip down to Fla and visit a friend in Chiefland. Run over to Cedar Key and photog my brains out.
Haven’t seen him in many years. Maybe middle of April.

Remember Marilyn Monroe’s skirt from that famous picture?
Picture one is a beauty too.
