NEW YORK – The crisis on Wall Street is plaguing Sesame Street.

Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit producer of "Sesame Street" and other kids' programs, is cutting about one-fifth of its work force because of the economic downturn.

The New York-based company said Wednesday that it's eliminating 67 of 355 staff positions.

Declaring it is "not immune to the unprecedented challenges of today's economic environment," the company pronounced a need "to operate with fewer resources in order to achieve our strategic priorities."

Wouldn’t it be okay for them to do for one season some RERUNS and let Bert and Ernie, and the Cookie Monster get rehashed.

Would tax cuts have prevented these layoffs?

Those muppets who voted for Obama should be axed! And just how many of those muppets were helping Acorn?

Unless things have changed from the very early days Sesame Street is set in a ghetto...a sort of happy ghetto but nonetheless a ghetto.

Since they just did a greenie and/or occult indoctrination production (”Elmo’s Green Thumb”) for kids I say good riddance. I’ll use their material from the 1980s with my grandkids if desired.

from: http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/flint/index.ssf/2008/11/elmos_green_thumb_teaches_kids.html

The story is about Elmo raising his sunflower, Sunny, from a seed. But his floral friend has outgrown the flower pot.

Elmo and friends find Big Bird’s garden the ideal place for Sunny to flourish and grow but they’re too excited to wait. Rather than let Sunny follow nature’s course, Abby Cadabby, Sesame Street’s fairy-in-training, casts a spell to make Sunny grow.

The spell does the opposite — instead of Sunny growing, Elmo and all of his friends shrink. While Abby searches for the right word to reverse the spell, Elmo and friends learn some big lessons about patience, overcoming fears and appreciating the role that each creature plays in the ecosystem.

I always love the ‘toons’. In the comics lately, Snoopy has been ‘playing’ a pirate with Woodstock on his shoulder as the parrot. I'd love to scan and animate it.
