Obama will just make it illegal because the food grown isn’t for the general welfare.

Can you add me please? We are getting ready to start our first full garden. Until the county cleared some trees for a sewer project we never could do it will all the shade. Other than herb/container plants.

Some of us believe that there should be an official White House garden, as the Roosevelts had during the Great Depression. I’d like to see Michelle and Barry out there in overalls with rakes and hoes . . . but I won’t hold my breath. They’d rather work out than work outside.

A victory garden is a big help. But that was then and this is now.

America doesn’t succeed when it just tries to survive. It succeeds when it tries to thrive. So don’t just garden, but try and garden better.

Healthier plants. Bigger yields. Extra crops to trade. Fewer bad insects, weeds, pest animal and bird losses, and plant diseases. More nutritious vegetables.

Gardening isn’t just poking holes in the ground, dropping in seeds and watering occasionally. It is a science, and the more you know the better you do.

Seed sales up...way up. For those of you in tight quarters; don’t forget container gardening or ‘square foot gardening’...very easy with very healthy and tasty results!

I just knew the Democrats would do this. FDR did this.

Let’s recap the things for which Obama will make me a criminal:

gardening (25 years or more)
guns (life in prison)
religion (because I’m not muslim - HATE CRIME)
talking/speech/blogging (because I don’t like his ideas - HATE CRIME)

That about covers my crimes (until Barry makes something else I do illegal, that is)

They will have to pry my hoe from my dead, cold hands!!!!

Give me a hoe and I’ll feed a lot of people. Give me a salad and I’ll wait for somebody to feed me.

If they come for my tomato plants in my window, I’ll have to hurt somebody.

Grrr, don’t mess with my babies.

I noticed that they aren’t taking orders until fall. Another place to buy heirloom seeds is http://www.groworganic.com I’ve been trying to buy as many heirlooms as possible so that I can eventually only use my own seeds year after year. This makes me want to move even faster on it.

One of the BEST places for heirloom seed is:

http://www.seedsavers.org

I used to work for them and will personally vouch for their selection and quality. :)

I now work for:

http://www.jungseed.com

We have some great varieties, too. We also own Totally Tomatoes and The Vermont Bean Seed Company, two other great sources:
