UPS SUSPENDS PICKUPS?

Posted on 03/06/2009 10:19:19 AM PST by kendwell

Three days in a row I have scheduled a package for pickup by UPS. Today again informed no pick-up scheduled, try again Monday? Three different US locations, unknown, Ohio, Utah (last) no local office # available.207-454-8950, in phone book, but dead line? I have been here 34 years, have shipper account, but only occasional use.

In the last two months I've had FedEx destroy a Pelican hard case (fortunately the rifle inside was fine) and one MacMillan stock. Perhaps if they stopped damaging shipments they'd be better off.

FWIW UPS is only marginally better. We only use USPS for all outgoing shipments now.

According to a UPS driver I talked to yesterday, city deliveries are way down. Rural deliveries are still holding up.

United States Postal Service will pick up daily. Ahem...their rates are cheaper, too. In fact they’re quite a bargain.

That is true. The trade off is, no tracking and longer transit times. Sometimes really long.

There was a UPS package in my Boston office that needed to go to New Hampshire. I just went ahead and drove it up there myself. If everybody took the kind of initiative that I took, we wouldn’t have these issues.

You are factually correct. However, when one of our greatest allies on this current economic battle, is that mean, self-absorbed feminist and her ficitional character, we need all the friends we can get. She may have died in the 1980’s, but Atlas Shrugged has become immensly popular in the last few months. Have you ever read it?

No problems here. UPS delivering and picking up (residential service). Are you scheduling online or over the telephone?

With Priority or Express Mail your package can get to most destinations in 1 or 2 days, and can be tracked; same with certified/registered mail. USPS has come a long way, thanks to the competition from FedEx and, to a lesser degree, UPS>
