U.S. Army To Buy $6 Million Of Riot Equipment (Obama plans to crush citizen protests this summer)
blacklistednews ^ | 2/25/09 | Watson

The U.S. Army is to invest $6 million in riot equipment, a fact that has furthered fears that troops will be used inside the U.S. in order to quell any civil unrest resulting from the ongoing economic crisis.

The U.S. Army Contracting Agency, based at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, has a post on the Federal Business Opportunities website, requesting the equipment and has received several notices of interest from potential vendors.

The request titled “84–RIOT EQUIPMENT” outlines the need for hard polyethylene Shin and Chest Guards, shock absorbing Forearm Protectors, Interior leg brace supports as well as knee and ankle protectors.

The ACA asks that the equipment be able to “safely withstand a substantial blow… from non-ballistic weapons or flying debris”.

The Solicitation also states:

The associated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 453998 with a small business size standard of $6M. This requirement is a [ Small Business ] set-aside and only qualified offerors may submit bids.

Interested vendors include Irish Brigade inc., manufacturers of hunting and safety gear with facilities located in the heart of Kansas City , Missouri. Federal and Military resource company MCLEARVISION, LLC is another interested party, as is Kentucky based U. S. CAVALRY STORE, INC.

In our article yesterday we highlighted the fact that Urban warfare training drills are taking place across the country as top analysts as well as officials predict a potential “summer of rage” across Europe and America as civil unrest from the economic fallout builds.

Are such drills really for the purpose of preparing troops for foreign combat zones? Undoubtedly - but other factors indicate that the drills may very well also be aimed at preparing troops for dealing with mass civil unrest as the economic crisis worsens.

There’s no question that U.S. authorities have been closely observing riots that have toppled governments in Iceland and Latvia and also threatened to do so in several other European countries. The fact that they have contingency plans in place to deal with such scenarios should they unfold in America cannot be disputed.

Indeed, before a media exposé forced them into a denial, Northcom revealed that one of the duties of at least 20,000 active duty troops that are being placed inside the United States would be dealing with “civil unrest and crowd control”.

The U.S. Army War College in November released a white paper called Known Unknowns: Unconventional ‘Strategic Shocks’ in Defense Strategy Development. The report warned that the military must be prepared for a “violent, strategic dislocation inside the United States,” which could be provoked by “unforeseen economic collapse,” “purposeful domestic resistance,” “pervasive public health emergencies” or “loss of functioning political and legal order.” The “widespread civil violence,” the document said, “would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order and human security.”

".....here is what I said today on the thread about the 50,000 march yesterday in NYC:"

Would you please supply me with a link to that thread. I never heard about 50,000 marching in NYC. Thanks!

Yeah...I saw it too...

this was also after the manditory evac was announced...

Now I have to refresh my memory...I thought at the time it was the general opinion on FR that anyone who didnt get out before katrina hit was an idiot, looter or gang banger?

I also saw the liitle old lady get disarmed by a NO thug with a badge...

What happened in N.O. was wrong...dead wrong....but it wasnt george bush ordering federal troops to disarm the city....was it.

I mean...a better expample would be the national gaurd actually shooting and killing a couple people...oh...like during the LA riots...

I mean really...after witnessing three days of rioting and seeing the LA cops hunkered down powerless...does anyone think they didnt need to be sent in under martial law?

I’ve spent 8 years supportig the troops against the most vile wild eyed truther accusations such as thse from alex jones and his insane ilk...

So excuse me if I dont stop supporting the troops just becuase the truther accusers have switched targets to Obama.

Liberals have allready told you they have a problem...it’s the red state military...

They say the problem is diveristy.. but the real problem is that the military is overwelmingly conservative.

Give that some thought...

‘55 sets of gear for Ft Leavenworth where the central military prison is located. Sounds like a reasonable acquisition to me.’

Especially when the sets are spread across more than 1 shift.
There were 2 other bids in January from Leavenworth that complimented this bid with similar quantities. One for riot helmets, the other for stab-proof vests and gloves. Those others bids had small business provisions also.

Who says it’s going to be the U.S. Army we know and love. Obama has already told us he intended to raise his own home based security force.

Significantly, these people are talking about government paid jobs. But the government cannot get the money. It simly is not there. They have no choice.

When the layoffs start, it will not be pretty.

‘It was awarded yesterday. The procurement is based out of Ft. Leavenworth.’

As you can see the award for under $20k for a small company in VA. The author of this article has no clue about military procurement.
The $6M figure was a size standard requirement for bidding on this procurement. Only small businesses doing under $6M in annual sales were allowed to bid on this. I know because my company was involved with this bid when it first hit fedbizopps.

I have seen that as well. Although NOPD had overall responsibility for the confiscations it was CHP who executed the order in that case.

It looks like laying low would be way to go as in don't answer the door when LE shows up and have your guns hidden and secured. Hopefully they will figure the house is unoccupied and move on.

Here is some observations on Katrina. Very helpfull

I think they would. My brother in law is a Captain in the army. He said he would love to be called in to quell a riot so he could give someone the butt of his rifle.

No disrespect to you, but that guy is stupid.

My brother is retired Sgt. Major U.S. army and he said he does not believe the army would not fire on the American people under any circumstances.

I think they will for two reasons... soldiers who disobey orders can be shot themselves. And the army did it 150 years ago during the Civil War.

On the other hand... the Generals could rebel against the elected government like Spain did during the Spanish Civil War... people were definitely shot there.

The question I have is........the military cannot be used against civil disturbance. Right? Is this not in our Constitution?

No, it's not. In fact it's expressly in there that the militia, of which the National Guard is a small part, *can* be used to "execute the Laws of the Nation, suppress Insurrections and repel invasions". (See Art. I, section 8 "Congress shall have the Power to...".

I do not believe that the Army would follow what orders he gives.

Wishful thinking, surveys have been taken among the military many times, they will follow orders.

Of course this riot control gear, may be for his new civilian defense force.

Here's another one for you to ponder, although this one turned out a bit better:

Battle of Athens TN.

And you're quite welcome. I use the Bonus Army March quite often to educate those who say "The Government would never turn its guns on our own citizens."

They already have, brother. They already have.
