The U.S. Army is to invest $6 million in riot equipment, a fact that has furthered fears that troops will be used inside the U.S. in order to quell any civil unrest resulting from the ongoing economic crisis.
The U.S. Army Contracting Agency, based at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, has a post on the Federal Business Opportunities website, requesting the equipment and has received several notices of interest from potential vendors.
The request titled 84RIOT EQUIPMENT outlines the need for hard polyethylene Shin and Chest Guards, shock absorbing Forearm Protectors, Interior leg brace supports as well as knee and ankle protectors.
The ACA asks that the equipment be able to safely withstand a substantial blow from non-ballistic weapons or flying debris.
The Solicitation also states:
The associated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 453998 with a small business size standard of $6M. This requirement is a [ Small Business ] set-aside and only qualified offerors may submit bids.
Interested vendors include Irish Brigade inc., manufacturers of hunting and safety gear with facilities located in the heart of Kansas City , Missouri. Federal and Military resource company MCLEARVISION, LLC is another interested party, as is Kentucky based U. S. CAVALRY STORE, INC.
In our article yesterday we highlighted the fact that Urban warfare training drills are taking place across the country as top analysts as well as officials predict a potential summer of rage across Europe and America as civil unrest from the economic fallout builds.
Are such drills really for the purpose of preparing troops for foreign combat zones? Undoubtedly - but other factors indicate that the drills may very well also be aimed at preparing troops for dealing with mass civil unrest as the economic crisis worsens.
Theres no question that U.S. authorities have been closely observing riots that have toppled governments in Iceland and Latvia and also threatened to do so in several other European countries. The fact that they have contingency plans in place to deal with such scenarios should they unfold in America cannot be disputed.
Indeed, before a media exposé forced them into a denial, Northcom revealed that one of the duties of at least 20,000 active duty troops that are being placed inside the United States would be dealing with civil unrest and crowd control.
The U.S. Army War College in November released a white paper called Known Unknowns: Unconventional Strategic Shocks in Defense Strategy Development. The report warned that the military must be prepared for a violent, strategic dislocation inside the United States, which could be provoked by unforeseen economic collapse, purposeful domestic resistance, pervasive public health emergencies or loss of functioning political and legal order. The widespread civil violence, the document said, would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order and human security.
I believe that most conflicts come in the heat of summer, apparently GovCo does also. The only thing that I know for a fact is that many of my friends that have long standing in the community, are now sick to their stomachs with fear over being able to protect their families. This thing will erupt when one of the larger city’s inhabitants take to the streets because of jobs, food, whatever. The pretender will declare Martial Law (Thanks G.W.) in the name of Homeland Security. Once Martial Law is in effect, the Constitution becomes null and void. There used to be a sequence of events and the Executive Orders which authorized them posted on the FEMA site. You can google FEMA Martial Law and draw your own conclusions.

Or have you had your head in the sand the last 60+ years?
Saddam always got 99.999% of the vote, as does Castro.
Imagine how the democrats would would gloat over a “mandate” such as that!
What with the GOP’s not being concerned about voter fraud or about their candidates being chosen by the democrats and the MSM, the democrats can win every election and will not abolish elections because of the illusory effect they will have.
Still, it's worthwhile to let them know we are paying attention...
I guess the Posse Comitatus Act would be ignored by Lord Obama or the Democrats in Congress would authorize using US troops against civilians. I agree with the commentators here that US troops would more likely mutiny before they would fire on US citizens.
The National Guard is under the command of the States' Governors and cannot act unless requested by the state governor.
That was one of the slams against the Bush administration, that he waited too long to send in the Guard in New Orleans. The real facts are that the then governor Blanco was responsible for waiting so long before making the request to the Fed. Govt......
Awake, and filled with a terrible resolve.
(ever since 9/11)
No...I meant the riot gear procurement was awarded, per the link I provided to FedBizOpps. Yes I am familiar with REX84. I mentioned REX84 because the riot gear procurement was titled “84-Riot Gear” which was similar, it sounded even prophetic ; ) Won’t hurt to be prepared for civil unrest...I am already locked stocked and loaded.
BTTT for the rest of the story.
Lucy - I think you pinged me? My two-stroke engine of a brain isn’t firing on all two cylinders.
It’s called Posse Comitatus. It’s a reconstruction era federal law that prohibits the use of the Army against the citizenry.
Ummmmm. *nevermind*
#2 If SHTF and the Army doesn't turn on the American people the these so-called elected thugs in DC would flee. They would have no power.
#3 The Kent State shootings were by a national guard unit shooting at pro-socialist/NVA students.
#4 the Posse Comitatus Act prohibits the military from being used inside the country for law enforcement domestic functions.
Check out post 139. Watch the video and those that it links to. Listen to the soldiers themselves.
They will follow orders.
Hitler called his Sturmabteilung, translated as Storm Troopers
Oops. I meant post 132.
Guess the army can see the handwriting on the wall.
What’s the difference between this “Urban Warfare training” and the Urban Warfare training they’ve been getting in preparation for duty in Iraq?
Can’t say I believe in it, but found it pretty interesting. Was just a bit curious about the inward facing barbed wire.
SKS? No....I’m a Glock man.
