The British have begun to worry about the “special relationship” in the Anglosphere since the election of Barack Obama. First, the visit from Gordon Brown failed to get the usual Rose Garden joint-presser treatment from the White House this week. Now the Daily Mail reports that Obama cheaped out on the traditional gift exchange, rustling up some DVDs in exchange for a thoughtful gift from Brown:

Bet they were Region 1 formatted to boot.
DVDs bought in the USA are Region “1”. Can’t be played in Europe which is Region “2”. So the guy gave cheap DVDs that can’t be viewed in Europe to Gordon Brown. What a hoot.
Since he has never lived or worked in the real world like most other people, perhaps he (and the rest of his wonderful White House staff) didn’t know this!

That sounds like a displayable souvenir, the kind of thing that years later would be displayed and be a conversation starter in his home, a personal connection with his glory days and his personalized gift from the ex military pilot American president.
Probably a little better than some DVDs that you hand to the kids to add to the collection down in the TV room.

More specific than that, it's a passive aggressive payback for the suppression of the Mau Mau revolt in 1952, in which a relative of the Obama clan was tortured.
Basically, we now have a tribal blood feud as the semi-official policy of the leader of the free world.

I’m just hoping that Zero at least covered the United Van Lines box with some wrapping paper or something. There is probably a Colt 45 bottle cap inside too.
