A truck is seen on the south driveway of the White House in Washingotn after a newly installed swing and play set was installed for President Barack Obama's children Malia and Sasha outside of the Oval Office in Washington, Wednesday, March 4, 2009.
A brand new swing and play set for the children of U.S. President Barack Obama, Malia and Sasha, is seen moments after being built outside the Oval Office in Washington March 4, 2009.
No, they are the same ages as my children and they would love to have a swing set.
Nothing’s too good for Obama and his pals, as long as we pay for it.
I have 2 fifth graders
this would preoocupy them for about 15 minutes- the first day
after 2 weeks- not at all
Yes, I would, and especially considering the status of our economy.
Love it!
I wonder if that’s some of Obama’s new stock market swings? They only go one way - down.
That’s a cool swing-set and all, but it just seems a bit tacky to me to put it up at the White House, which is not exacty a McMansion in the suburbs. It’s the seat of power for the free world for God’s sake!!! At least for the moment. What’s next, velvet Elvis on the walls?
It doesn’t count if dad doesn’t build it and the construction doesn’t involve at least two trips to the hardware store for tools and parts.
Even if he bought it himself, there are those who would argue (stupidly) that since he receives a federal salary, tax dollars paid for it.
My first response was to agree with you, but then I did a little history checking, remembering that Nixon had a bowling alley installed in the WH.
Nixon is always and for ever tagged as the epitome of evil by the left, correct? But what do we find at the link?:
So apparently Nixon thought enough of his position and power to not burden taxpayers with such frivolities.
Now a swing set is cheap compared to a bowling alley, but I would be willing to bet that neither the anointed one, or his friends, paid dime one for this.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the Obamas paid for the swingset.

You may be on to something, doing some digging but in DC, any playgrounds on public land require a ‘poured-in-place rubber safety surface’.
You’re wrong, see post #51.
Only two? you must be more efficient then I, my norm is three.
Well, now you’ve done it- you said the word “monkey”!
Al Sharpton will be coming after you! ;)
I can sleep tonight...
LOL
If that would’ve kept you awake, you’ll be a basket case by 2012.
you can’t say that any more... jokes like that only worked on Bush :-(
Anyway, it has started!!!
