PHOENIX (AP) Kurt Warner is staying with the Arizona Cardinals, agreeing to a two-year, $23 million contract and ready to play after a season in which he led his team to the Super Bowl. "I'm excited about building on what we started last year, the last couple of years," the 37-year-old quarterback said at a news conference Wednesday. "I'm looking forward to getting back to football. I'm glad this is over with, but I'm extremely excited to be a Cardinal."
Warner made a highly publicized visit to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday but had made clear he wanted to remain in Arizona, where he was the catalyst of the team's improbable run to the title game. The Cardinals have an offense tailored to Warner's skills with two of the game's top wide receivers in Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin.

Ben Roethlisberger is making $27 million a year.
And here I was waiting for the new fuhrer to Nationalize the Cards and cap their QB salary at $500,000...
Oh well, there is always next year.
Good for Kurt. Love the guy...
Man are the Cards stupid. Warner is 37 years old. Sure he’s had one of his best seasons, but that doesn’t mean he’s worth millions.
Agreed. Most sports I cannot be bothered with but Kurt is such an amazing story and an amazing & good guy. I sure wish they had won the SB and they almost did.
Big Ben is not a bad guy either.
Maybe if Matt Leinart would get his head out of the bong and 16 year old girls once in awhile they wouldn’t need Kurt Warner.
Yes, he is worth it. Ticket sales, broadcast rights...he’s worth millions. Good to see him get it. I am glad we don’t have salary caps, as you would prefer.
$23 mill for throwing the ball. Sweet!
I met Kurt at Giants training camp in 2004 when he was with my beloved G-men. I went up to Albany with two of my kids and we met Kurt after practice. While essentially every other Giant went into the locker room, Kurt stayed out there and signed autographs for everyone who wanted one and posed for pics. The one I took of Kurt and my two girls will always be treasured. Could not have been nicer...what the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has to offer!
Good for him. He can play two more years and get some Hall Of Fame numbers and go from there. Plus his wife is really hot.
One of the good guys, atta boy Kurt
I admire Kurt, His Courage to face mean angry defenses is only surpassed by professing his faith on national TV.
Super nice guy. I was stunned watching him in the Super Bowl on how fit he was. He also looks younger than before. it looks like he slimmed down versus prior super bowls.
His stats for last year were outstanding too. Yup he walks the walk as far as Christianity and a role model for our youth.
If he plays as well as last year he is worth double plus a great role model for the team and NFL. I sure would love to see sponsors with Kurt’s mug versus Eli’s brother on every commercial.
Contrast Kurt as a good role model versus the criminal thugs like the Ravens and Ray Lewis or Vick.
Look for them to go to a high-pressure 3-4.
NFC West should be theirs again. I don't see much improvement from the Niners, Rams, or Seahawks. And I'm a Niner fan.
Well, IMO, the Niners may be competitive in 2010; the Seahawks seem to be trying. Signing Houshmanzedah was a good move for them...I wish my G-men got the ex-Bengal.
As for your G-men, isn't Lavernues Coles still out there as a free agent?
